Transmission Oil Change

I took the 1M in for 1200 mile service. Oil changed and tranny and diff oil backordered. Now the service advisor says they have the oil for the diff change and BMW says the tranny oil is lifetime and never needs changing. Anyone else getting this story?

read this thread...it'll cover everything on the first service.

i assume you took it to Adv Midtown? My SA is Al Lloyd and he's familiar with the tranny fluid. They screwed up on mine and had to special order the tranny fluid. Based on the thread above, transmission fluid flush is not a requirement.
As for the diff fluid, same happen to me, but its actually the modifier that they dont stock. The diff fluid itself they have it (in a drum). They got the modifier from Momentum.

Franklin,

Thanks for the update. How's the lowered suspension on coil overs on Houston streets?

Thanks,

Bill

Read the Service booklet that is included with the owners manual. The trans fluid in the 1M doesn't get changed.

I changed my 128i to MTL (Red Line) at about 1800 miles. I was a little late. I did it based upon the old school maintenance guidance from the guy who writes the repair column for the Roundel (Mike Miller I think his name is). I also changed the differential to Red Line synthetic lube at that time. This expert uses their engine oil too as well as their transmission and differential lubes. The cost is quite reasonable, I order from JEGS.
