5 Years of E82 1M - Event and Road Trip in 2016 - (Official Thread)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
(We are waiting on date conformations from Kansas Speedway)

See the events website here for all the details:

June XX 2016 - Waiting on Kansas Speedway for dates

Facebook page for the event

100 years of BMW and 5 Years of E82 1M Road Trip and Event / 15 years E46 M3
This event is to celebrate a Century of BMW and 5 Years of E82 1M. If you are expecting something similar to the Gumball or Bull Run Rallies, you will be disappointed. The focus of the event is to be a way for enthusiasts to come to gather and share stories, meet face to face, share an adventure, and of course celebrate their favorite BMW model.

To use a cheesy movie quote, “Fifty years from now, when you're looking back at your life, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?”

The event will take place June XX, 2016. (Dates will be posted once Kansas speedway has their 2016 calendar)

We will kick off the event with a four day road tour (Tuesday-Friday) that makes a fun sightseeing loop in the heartland of America. Plans are to do a group drive each day for the first half, then spend the second half seeing sights and being able to chat with friends made over the year both on and off line. Following the road tour portion we will have a weekend of events starting with a car show meet and greet followed by a track day and autocross at Kansas Speedway.

We encourage all makes and models to attend as this is meant to be an event by owners for owners to meet a central as possible for a once in a life time experience.

Cost for the event

Registration fee was calculated based on a 100 cars participating. If we have more cars attending, we will refund the difference back to you. This is a not for profit event so the cost is spread equally to all participants. In addition if there is more cars we will take some of the extra funds and purchase more swag items for the car show and track day events for people. We hope to have a big event so come join in the fun of this once in a life time event.

-Set of decals with your choice of numbers / letters (See example of both styles and possible restrictions)
-Venue insurance
-Swope Park venue and tent & Kansas Speedway Track cost
-1 - T-Shirt (Example of both styles on last pages)
-PayPal fees
-Shipping fees

Base event cost is $260 for the above listed items. (Subject to change once park venue confirmed)
Discounted hotel rooms are available on the registration page for those who wish to stay in a group. On average we have about a 10-20% discount on rooms and activities.

NOTES: The venues have a fixed price to be there so even if you do not do the track day we still have to cover staff and venue cost.

Optional event items

For those who wish to make the most out of this special event, we have worked out some polos that have either the 15 years E46 M3 logo or the 100 year Century Logo. In addition to the polos we are working on a catered BBQ lunch for the Saturday car show to make this a complete experience for the entire event. Cost of these items will be posted to the registration page once we have final details from the park..

Event decals

The event decals are for those who attend to have a memento of the event. These are on a 3M product that is designed to be low tack as to be able to be pick and stick as well as NOT harm the paint of the car. These have been used on many events and are a great item to collect if you ever come out on other events the organizer does for fun.

Restrictions / Special decals

For those who want model special decals such as 318 or M3 or E28 etc, these will have a $75 fee attached to them. The reason for the up charge is there is a $50 fee added on to these decals, with all the funds going to the Fisher House Charity for our veterans. So you get a unique number as well as support those who gave use the freedom to have this event.

Event T-Shirt Samples

The T-Shirts below are what has been designed for the event. These shirts will only be available to those who register which came with some debate amongst the forum. The point of the trip is to find a way to attend so the T-shirt is for those who made the trip. There is an E46 M3 specific one as noted this event was started by the owners of this model.

Event Polos

We have made as a separate item polos for those who want something more than just a T-shirt. These polos are available to anyone who wishes to order them.

I thought I went to sleep and woke up in 2016.

Scared me when I actually thought I just bought a 5 year old car at a premium lol. Good scare.

this is an excellent idea. While it is certainly an item that can be potentially be a stand alone event.. It also may be preferable to join an event that is already in place, both with respect to ensuring that an event will occur, if not to simply take an easier path with less resistance when it comes to track rental, planning, expenses etc.

To wit.

The three texas Chapters of BMW CCA already have been working with and negotiating events with COTA. See http://texastrifecta.com/ for more details. COTA is an extraordinary facility, however it comes with an extraordinary rental fee as well. If you do not have the ability to raise capital quickly, as well as ready to have deposits (50K minimum ) ready in a short period of time then I strongly recommend joining forces with others. We have had two successful annual events (June - 2013 and March 2014) and are currently planning on a third event in March of 2015. I will send you an offline email regarding additional future plans for BMW CCA at COTA.

With respect to Heartland park - Topeka

The Oklahoma, KC, Sunbelt, and ST Louis chapters sponsor an annual event. They have had 3 (perhaps 4 ) events, with the first being in 2012 i believe. Last year the event was in April although it also has been held in June. Check out the event page at http://www.flatoutclassic.com/ The 4 chapters involved have also used a June Date in the past.. so it's very possible you could be directly competing with those chapters OR.. attempting to negotiate a date in June in which they may already have an event.

Finally..... BMW CCA Oktoberfest 2016 will be at Laguna Seca/Monterrey CA in the fall of 2016. The ofest event is already set to celebrate 100 years of the marque. A gathering of one series vehicles there would be awesome! I am already aware that a number of individuals from AUSTRALIA are considering shipping their E30 M3s to the WEST COAST in order to attend the Oktoberfest event at Laguna Seca. Joining this endeavor might really make an incredible event. It does not match up with your timing, however... there could be some serious benefits to joining this celebration.

Sent you a pm on your post. The reason for this event being at either location is to make a event that is fair distance wise to both coasts. The bmwcca event in monterey shafts east coast people.

this event is going to happen. I am just waiting on cota to give me the contract. Hartland is the back up in case cota is off the table from conversations I cant repeat with them.

The reason it is posted now is to have it on peoples radar. Life may change for a lot in two years but as long as people know about it now it makes it easier to plan it out as time get closer.

+1. There are some freakin' amazing driving roads all around Monterey, central and Northern CA, and the surrounding states.

I also want to echo some of the other poster sentiments:
I'll be based on the east coast in 2016 and would absolutely love to go to either this or Monterey Car week in Aug. Both would be impossible though. This isn't a knock on the 1M specific event - I know it takes a lot of work to plan such a complex trip, and not all solutions will work for all people.

In any case, I hope this trip is as awesome as it sounds!
I also hope I can find some equally awesome BMW events on the east coast in 2016.
