My 2010 Mazda MX-5 has auto-lock. It's available as a dealer pre-program if you have the keyless (CA) option.
Can't believe I'm not going to have that option available to me with the BMW CA! |

As a 1 month DCT owner I will say that the only way to make sure you get used to it as a manual, is to drive it like one. Every time I get in the car I reverse out of my garage, then click it to drive, slap it over to the left, hit the "Sport" button and click the left paddle. It sounds like a lot, but it's second nature now since I do it every time I get in the car. In fact, it's no slower than putting a regular manual in first.
In one month and 2000 miles of ownership (to be fair, I drove 900 miles in the first two days from South Carolina) I think I've actually used D/DS maybe a half dozen times. I don't like the long lazy shifts in regular D mode, so the Sport button is always on even when I'm driving in straight D mode. Maybe I'll get lazy at some point. Now I have my winter shoes on my baby I might end up driving it in auto more often because snow tires suck for acceleration... but I'm still going to try to force myself to drive it in Manual as much a possible. Comfort Access I don't have a problem with. Yes, there's been the times I've forgotten to lock it but then I just reach into my pocket and hit the button on the remote. Problem solved. There's also the occasion when it's really cold that the ridges on the door handle don't seem to respond so quickly (or at all), but I've just gotten used to mostly locking it with the button anyway. However, CA is damned nice when opening the car doors... plus I think my girlfriend is enjoying the fact that in order to open both doors at once I have to open the passenger door for her first LOL |

it's in the settings menu. It might as well be labeled "switch this to disable chivalry"

I never reallY use the DCT, unless im racing a buddy. It doesn't feel natural to drive like that just for the hell of it.

with CA how long will the ignition stay on once the fob is out or range.
for example, I start the car pull it out of the garage, (fob in my pocket) run inside because I forgot my wallet. While inside, realize that I also forgot to take a dump, 10minutes later come back outside, will the car still be running? |

here's the result:
I parked the car on the driveway with the engine on. Walked into the house, did a #1 (sorry, didn't feel like doing a #2), left the key in the bedroom (well outside range). Walked back to the car and engine was still on. I was even able to drive it into the garage, albeit the "no key" sign lit up with a bong. |

Regarding CA in general, you will come to love it. And when it comes to remembering to lock the doors, you will probably have to change your habits. I close the door with the exterior handle and have my finger on the locking 'grooves' already, making locking easy.
I do get the walking away and forgetting though. Wish it were an option to flash the parking lights when you lock it with the remote rather than just have the access lights come on. Doesn't do much for daytime notification. Quote:

Seemed like it took me 1 day or less to get totally spoiled by and also master CA, now I walk up to my other cars that don't have it and have to stumble for a minute and remember I don't have CA. I also don't like the auto lock feature, especially annoying when it locks when you don't want it to. Easy enough for me to remember to swipe the handle or worst case press the fob.

Prius is the same, and this happens all the time. Key in wife's purse, I'm driving. Drop her off to go park the car and the warning lights go on. As long as I don't turn the car off not a problem. Park, lock it and all good. Figure it has to be that way...what if the battery dies while driving?
