hi all -wheel & wheel weight questions/lightest available?
looks like i may be joining your ranks shortly! had a chance to test drive a 135i coupe today. have to say without even pushing it hard (only had 20 miles on it, and it's not mine. ) it sure goes.
wheel question: 1. the stock wheels that come with the sport package, vs the style 182...the latter is 1600 more. which one is lighter? anyone have the weights? 2. seen some pics with the csl reps. will the oem csl fit? 3. what other good quality aftermarket wheels are available? i prefer ones that have the oem feel, along the lines of alpina or acs, no chrome, no bling, no (cant remember the term) 'screws' around the circumference of the wheel face. 4. are there some bmw wheels perhaps NOT specifically for the 135i but will fit? 5. what are the lightest wheels available in 18s? thank you! jack |

1. stock wheels and tires are 48lbs each on the front and 52.2lbs each on the rear. Not sure about the 182s.
2. no 3. read the stickys and search. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ighlight=wheel as for "screws" those are either 3 piece forged wheels or fake forged wheels. the best wheels you can make are 3 piece forged, you've probably just seen the fake bling crap. 4. doubt it, certainly nothing that looks better than stock 5. Probably the Breyton GTS-R or Volk RE30. The OZ Alleggerita HLT should come in pretty light, not released yet tho. Excluding custom forged wheels of course.

I have a little bit of an internal conflict with wheels because I really would like some lightweight 19" wheels (expensive) but I can get the even lighter Breyton GTS-R and save LOADS of weight and they are relatively inexpensive.

Welcome to 1Addicts, s3touring! This link is great for researching BMW OE wheels. In particular, the E46 ZHP and E60 535xi wheels offer some interesting width increases, but no weight savings. I like my Breyton GTS-R 18x8.5 at all corners setup.

Could you offer a quick explanation why 3 piece forged wheels are better than a 1 piece forged? Thanks man!
