Props to:

Gilda for putting up with a hot day away from home, while we worked on our cars.

longtran for his friendship, infinite wisdom, hospitality and for going out of his way for actually delivering these parts to the body shop, picking them up, for his bbq, food, drinks, ... the list goes on and on. Also to Jennifer for keeping Gilda company, for her generosity, for always being supportive and for letting us camp out on Mother's Day to work on our cars.

marcus who has become a true next-door neighbor buddy always willing to lend a helping hand

NaTuReBOY for always supporting the SoCal Blackline e90 group, for bringing a playmate for little marcus, for making our day much more fun in the sun.

mava330 for his pick-me-up comradery, camera expertise and for making these pictures possible when there wasn't much light out this evening.

DEAN325i for putting up with my old skool (or old man's) way of shaking hands and greeting. You're the next Mike Bibby!

jbjwc and Tina (spelling?) for joining us for the BBQ, photoshoot, and post-mod modding this evening.

Well, it would have been easier had it not been such a bright sunny day. The front bumper was the most difficult, because of the headlight washer system, the fog light connectors, and the plastic bottom engine compartment shield (whatever it is called).

There were no installation instructions included.

REGARDING THE FRONT BUMPER:

(1) The sun: By the time we were cooking on the front bumper install, we were literally cooking. It was around noon time.

(2) The headlight washer system. The plastic pieces that attach to the retracting headlight washer nozzles are different from the stock ones. Don't get them mixed up. You need to figure out which is for the left, which is for right, and what the top and bottom of these plastic pieces are. Installing the plastic covers are the most difficult task, because the spring that holds the headlight washers are very strong.

(3) The black plastic shield that protects the engine compartment does not match up with the M-Tech front bumper, because the bottom center portion of the M-Tech protrudes much lower. An additional piece of plastic had to be attached to the center 2/3rds of the OEM shield, which was then drilled in 4 spots where push clips would eventually be installed.

(4) The fog lights: New fog lights are included with the M-Tech kit. This is not simply a plug and play procedure. Once you figure out how the fog lights go into the bumper, you realize that the connectors are different from stock to M-Tech. The center core of the stock electrical connector has two wires surrounded by a white plastic shroud with clips. I had to destroy the stock connector carefully, using a fine wire-cutter, while saving the center plastic core that simply pops into the new connectors. This was the most difficult part of the install as I took care to not damage anything I might need to use in the future.

Once the front bumper was in place, fastening it in was not difficult. Number (3) above slowed me down considerably though.

THE SIDE SKIRTS:

You remove two bolts at the rear portion of the stock skirt then unscrew the fasteners that line the bottom. The skirts simply clip in on the sides (see photos). You have to pull the skirt off. Yeah baby!

When installing the M-Tech side skirts, line up the bottom portion of the skirts, insert the fasteners, lift up so that the top of the skirts are flush with the portion of the body (under the doors) that they abutt to, then push hard. I used the palm of my hand as a mallet, and had to hit these very hard.

THE REAR BUMPER:

More on this later. Ran out of time at the moment.

Keep an eye on eBay. They go on sale there every now and then.

At least not from the dealership. The basic kit comes primed, and ready to paint. You'll have a reputable body shop do the painting.

This is the thread with useful part numbers that compelled me to research this:

Hi rogsel. Make sure you specify the one for the correct set-up based on whether or not you have HWS (Headlight Washer System) and/or PDC (Park Distance Control). These do come as kits in huge boxes for protection and list for $1250 primed.

Okay, here are the part numbers

That quad exhaust is an Eisenmann Race Exhaust with quad set-up on longtran's car. I believe he's the first one to have it here in the U.S. Hamann makes one that costs well over 3 grand.

Check out this thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=eisenmann

There are several different options you have with Eisenmann: Sport-tuned, Race, Meisterschaft Valve Control, Titanium vs Stainless Steel, but the quad set-up is not available with Meisterschaft.

Here's one of longtran's threads with a video clip of his exhaust:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=quad+exhaust
