You car is brand new, why are you spending money on parts that don't need to be improved/repaired yet?

Do you have a "service engine soon" light? How many miles on tune?

Go slotted rotors. A bunch of my autocross buddies have cracked drilled rotors.

Nope no light. That would certainly make things easier to diagnose.

Approximately 95 miles on the tune so far. I double checked my o2 sensor connections and have thoroughly checked for exhaust leaks. Unpluged the precat o2 (which forces the ecu into open loop mode) and it idles fine. Reconnect the sensors and the problems back.

Nope I've tried it with the air-con on and off. No difference.

I'm thinking that maybe the car doesn't like either the reduced EGTs or the reduced pressure at the o2 sensors. Then again maybe not. The Bosch LSUs BMW used for the precats have some of the best heaters and have a pretty wide operating range as far as pressure and temperature.

I just asked as the 128i as a known issue of RPM fluctuations under AC use. Mine does it and it's quite annoying. Was thinking of having Evolve raise my idle by 50-100 rpm to see if I can chase it away.

My old e36 325s fluctuated like mad with the AC on. I havn't noticed it with the 128 but I really only use the AC on the freeway anyways.

I may have resolved my idle problem! Salman over at evolve suggested that it may just take more time idling for the idle to adapt, and suggested that I let the car idle for at least 20 minutes. After a couple of long idling sessions the fluctuations are only occassional. It will idle fine for a few minutes and fluctuate and shake for 20 seconds and then go back to normal. Before, they were constant. Hopefully my idle will continue to improve.

How much would you estimate, in rpms, your idle is fluctuating?

It was only 100rpm, but it was enough to make shake the car each time idle dropped.

It did this for about a week and a half and gradually got better after a few 20to 30 minute sessions of idling the last few days. This evening the problem was almost completely gone! I guess idle adaptation takes a while!

I believe it is generally supposed to be a week or two depending on driving habits/amounts.

Wow our ecu suck, it took me 25-50 miles in my last car to adapte and log before I could revise my tune again.

It should only take a few WOT pulls to adapt.

The instructions with the Evolve-R state that it generally takes 15 miles for most gains to be realized but that it may be take a couple tanks of gas for full adaptation to occur.

In my case the car performed great right from the moment I installed the tune, with and felt like it had great gains.

The exception was at idle speed. In my case I had to spend a lot of time actually idling to get the idle smoothed out. Maybe it's due to the fact that I did do quite a bit of WOT redline and near redline pulls immediatly after the tune I'm happy to say that my car now idles perfectly. I'm sure adaptation varies greatly based on driving style and modifications.

You might notice some partial throttle adjustment, but at WOT there shouldn't be a change.

I have almost 500 miles on my current Evolve tune and my idle will still jump around about 100rpm occasionally with AC off.
