Really high end shock designs have this capability. I have briefly driven an E36 M3 with motons... in my experience, AST shocks also provide this sort of adjustability. it's all in the actual damper... |

I stiffened things up aggressively at the track and intended on coming home on these settings but it was raining heavily on the mountain and the car was quite loose at the rear end. Mind you, I wasn't pushing it hard either. The DCS light came on 4 or 5 corners in a row with the back end stepping out. I stopped, made some quick adjustments to soften up the back end and the car felt much more neutral in the rain. What really sucks is my street car has better suspension than the race car. That just doesn't seem right!

This is probably the most tempting thread I've ever come across...As you continue to post about the drastic dual characteristics of the Street Sports, it's truly mind boggling and fitting to my interests and goals!
I can't wait to hear back from James and Ryan at Bimmerworld. I sent them an email earlier today, hehe.

We went with the springs that came with the Moton kit (for the E9X M3). They are 350 front and 620 rear. Obviously on the soft side but that is what I want. If I didn't have a dedicated race car (800f/900r) I would have increased the spring rates but I'm trying to keep the car on the street side of things. I'm surprised how stiff the car became with a turn of the dials so I don't expect to change anything.

that's great that you're able to run such neutral spring rates. with street tires and good quality damping, you shouldn't need more spring, hopefully.
OT: do you also race in the imsa gt3 cup too or were you just parked by one of the trailers? |

To report back after another 2500 miles all is great with the Motons. I recently drove 5 hours to Alabama for O'Fest and 5+ back (a different way-more fun than route 20 from Atlanta) and the car is very comfortable on all the surfaces I've encountered. I've played around with different settings and find that full soft in front and 2-3 ticks from full soft in the rear feels great on mountain roads. The rear rotates very predictably and if it's wet I switch it to full soft and it's very well behaved. I'm tempted to put some 18's on it with some R compounds and get it back on track soon. The front bumper is very low and I dread hitting something in the road ahead so I'm probably a little conservative when I can't see a good distance ahead. I'm off to VIR next week for the 13 hour enduro so at this rate I'll probably put 20K per year on it. It really is a JOY to drive, pardon the pun.

These must be the single and double SS before the original Moton went away. I know they had both, but you never know what is available and when they will eventually show up. With the new Moton the SS will be coming back again but nothing immediate. |
