Straight from the swap. So unless you have a better source, I'm taking it.

I personally owned 2 KA24DEs, the shipping weight was 295lbs. I know it's crazy, but I know what the hell I'm talking about.

So you are saying if you tailor the track specifically to the BRZ/FRS and swap the stock tires to a grippier tire, it performs well?

That's quite a lot of preconditions...

Whatever people like to invent in their minds about that family of engines, GM is currently on the cutting edge of delivering a proper N/A engined packaged for the current climate of MPG regulation/strangulation, instead of resorting to some miserable turbo 4.
I didn't say it was old technology. I was speaking in terms of refinement. I know they get better gas mileage typically than most v8s. Also have to remember that they dont rev real high like a e9x m3.

Hopefully the new LT's are better than the old LT's.

I have a soft spot for the Ford 4.6 Liter 4V. Terminators are going to bring big money someday.

The latest vette motor is also direct injected. The first for a pushrod motor. Pushrods seems out of date but it a big part of why the motor is so compact.

My son's best friend has a Trans Am with a LS motor, turbocharged. It has been dyno'd over 800 hp. I've ridden in it. The whole car seems to twist when he gets on it. I don't need that kind of power but that is what is available in a LS motor. He's broken a couple rear ends and probably needs to overhaul the manual transmission since it shows signs of excessive wear and/or minor breakage. If he really wants to use the power he needs a different rear end and probably transmission too. That's a problem when you start major modifications. Scope keeps creeping up as you find the next limitation. They like wrenching on it but I prefer to drive.

Back to the original topic for a minute. I looked up the Scion FR-S and 128i vert on the zeroto60times.com website. They gather test results from magazines and other published tests. They should a 2008 128i vert as 6.1 seconds 0-60 and 14.7 for the quarter mile.

For the FR-S, they should 6.2 and 14.5 for a manual and 7.9 and 15.9 for an automatic.

So if the FR-S was a manual, it is in the same ballpark as a 128i vert, I presume manual given the time.

I sat in a Subaru BRZ at the detroit auto show. I'm only 6'1 and it seemed really low and compact.

A lightly modded 128i manual coupe should make quick work of it with driver mod.

My brother bought an FRS about a month after I got the 128...I'll tell you, he gets a lot more compliments than I do...the car is very cool looking...my wife saw it and immediately wanted one, red of course, with an automatic....that flat 4 Subaru engine is so low, the hood's about up to your knees....I don't know, I haven't driven it, it's lighter than the 128, but giving up 30 hp...I bought the BMW for the engine....it's a jewel...I wouldn't trade it for a Subaru boxer 4, but I might swap bodies.....

I'm 6'2" 200 and fit in one fine. It's a great track car but it has no class. I drove a prepped one at HMS and it was wonderful, but I don't want it over my 128i as a DD. It shouldn't be compared to it as track/performance only. You pay 25k you can get the performance but not the comfort or class.

Do whatchawant but I'm damn happy when I pick up the lady and so is she.
