Downpipe Sound

Is there a big difference in the sound between the different brands of downpipes like there is in the different axel back exhausts? Or is it all a matter of what brand you trust and know will fit like AR Design and Macht Schnell for example. I have the Berk Full street exhaust, BMS DCI, COBB AP installed at the moment if that makes a difference.

I can see there being a sound difference between catted and non catted DPs. Most of them are 3inch and have the same shape so I dont think there will be any sound differnce.

I too would like to know. I had the Berk street exhaust but put the stock axleback back on after getting that whistle sound. Kept the Berk resonated and. Is want to add DP's BUT I want to keep it as quiet as i possibly can. Already had the super loud musclecar and after a while driving got annoying with the sound so loud. Also saw some DP's with resonates in them. Any word on these?

Assuming I go catless it sounds like There will not be much sound difference between the different brands.

Correct, but then again it always depends on what you have all together. If you have full piping all around compared to just downpipe and exhaust, the car will sound different. I have full piping and my car sounds nothing like all the other 1ers i have met up with.

By full piping do you mean full TBE?

Full piping as in removing resonators and putting a straight pipe, people sometimes do muffler delete but i have AA exhaust and Downpipe and TbE is cool but again its all your preference on what you want to do as all of them pretty much do the same thing with minor differences. Also the Secondary pipes should be changes if you want, i just put my stock ones back on and it didnt really make a difference to the sound or performance really but i enjoy my car even though it is loud as ****.

You got to go with the flow, choose parts that you know in the long run you will enjoy, not what we will enjoy because we will most likely like your car anyways.
