Deep paint chips HELP!

Somehow a rock hit my drivers door while on the highway, and chipped the paint in 2 spots deep, not down to the metal but into the base coat.

How can I fix this? Touch up paint + wetsand + buff & polish?
Someone on here must have fixed something similar to this.

You can have a body shop touch up and wet sand, or paint the entire panel. You will always notice the repair unless you do the entire panel. then again, chances are, you will get other nicks and scratches.

If you are comfortable to paint/wetsand/polish you should get a not bad repair. I have used dr.colorchip on my rock chips with good results. It will fill in the chip and make it much better. Chips that size will blend in till you are within 3-5 feet from the car but you will notice them up close.

However...the dr.colorchip works very good on my jet black BMW. I used it on my mettalic silver MDX and the chips are more noticable. It has filled them in and protected them from rust but the chip is more noticable.

Dr.colorchip is much better then the good old OEM paint pen plus a toothpick but I would think the wet snding plus polish would look good. If you go that route give us some pictures of the results.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to try to tackle this on my own, because if I mess it up I will just go to an autobody shop anyways.
Good info on dr. Colorchip, I will use that instead.

Dr. Colorchip does not work well with deep down to the primer/metal rock chips.
Don't get it because in the end result you still won't be satisfied with it. Dr. Colorchip works best on light chipping aka peppering type chips/blemishes.

It smears into the light chipping and fills all the micro chips, etc. Then solution removes the excess paint leaving behind the small chips filled.

For deep chips...just get either Langka's blob elimnator kit (for DIY) But If I were you I'd find a professional painter who will "air brush" the chips. I've had it done to my car and it's filled/blended and so forth much better than I could ever do!!!!!

Find a guy who does this if you are as critical as me. For DIY stone chipping..I've mastered the small ones and mixing the paint to match. I can do a great job. I touch up sand speck type stone chips DIY style with alot of patience, blending, and time...
BUT for DEEP ones I call my painter!!
