06 330i - rough idle, comfort access doesn't always work
I've got an 06 330i that I purchased last November. I took it for service last week for the following issues and the BMW center said that everything checked out fine.
I'd greatly appreciate any help! |

I have had none of these problems, but if i were you, I would continue to complain. I have a friend who got a 325i out here in Rockville, MD. Something was going wrong with the electronics, mainly dealing with the battery. Something in his car was draining his battery to the point that if he didnt drive his car for a whole day, the next day he would need a jump. He had BMW tow his car 4 times to the dealer to try and fix the problem and each time, they failed. So the last time we spoke he said all he was gonna do is park his car at the dealership overnight, and come get it the next morning, and WHEN, it doesnt start, he wont leave until they give him a new car. Sure enough he got a new car, but instead he got a 330i

You know that to unlock the car you slide your hand between the door and door handle right?

the battery in your fob may be low on juice and thus not transmitting as strong a signal. or, in certain areas, there may be signals that interfere with it.
i know in my old car, i could never use keyless entry in certain places due to interference.

I was going to suggest that or get a new battery for the key fob. A way to check is use your original keyfob, and if you catch it not working again, take the fob out of your pocket and bring it closer to the car just holding it in your hand. If it works then its either the fob or its battery or the reception of the CA system that at fault. I havent had any stalling problems, but I have noticed a choppy idle with the car. They say that BMW has done a great job with the idle, but I've also read that its hard to get them to run perfect. If the rough idle happens when warm, then you should bring it in to the dealer.

I found when trying CA at the dealers that if the fob was in a pocket furthest from the vehicle. i.e. in your right pocket when you reach for the door with your left hand then it sometimes didn't work.
Make sure the fob is close to the car. |

The fob needs to be in the direct vacinity of the car. I THINK it's about less than 30cm - so you need to be standing right next to the car. If you had your windows tinted - then it could definately be interfering with the CA.
Try the other fob...and let us know. |

Your dealer recommended that you use REGULAR instead of PREMIUM? Ask him to put that in writing and have the SA and the GM sign it. I'll bet you any $$ they will not.

If your car was built pre-september 2005 it may have the rough running software fault a few cars had.
The software upgrades from September 2005 fixed this. So you may need a software upgrade

Yes, the manual says premium and I have no intention of straying from that.
I've tried using the other fob this yesterday and today and I'm still having the same problems with the comfort access...the door handle doesn't always respond. :-( |

The inside of the petrol tank cover has the range of unleaded octane fuels that can safely be used on the E90.
The 330 is certainly one that will benefit from the highest possible up to and including 98RON. (Equals about 95PON for USA) Rough idling when cold is something different. I think you are going about showing your dealer in the right manner and if they still are unsure, check with another dealer.

Try eliminating the options by approaching the passenger door. If it works on that side, then its just a drivers side problem. If it doesnt work, then its a general CA problem.
