all x35's having hpfp issues?

Do we know if all x35's (135, 335, 535, etc..) are having the hpfp issues? They are using the n54 in the 7 series as well, correct?

Yes, other N54-equipped Bimmers have had HPFP issues. I don't believe the N54 is being used in the 7-series, at least not here in the states.

It will be interesting to see if the Z4 sDrive35i will have HPFP issues. Beyond the Z4, I don't think we'll see the N54 in any future models as BMW will be turning to their new single-turbo variant, the N55 (see here: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266514).

thanks for the response. I can't wait for them to get their act together on the pump. It's very annoying and has kept me from taking a road trip to SoCal in the car.. ugh!

Agreed. I've had only one or two brief symptoms of the HPFP failing earlier on in ownership, but nothing since (now at 16500 miles). I'm kind of expecting it to happen eventually, but with no recent symptoms, I'm not letting it affect my SoCal drives. =)

Man just go. You've got road side assistance and trip interruption coverage.
Yes, it be a slight pain in the arse to deal with it if happens, but you've got a new car, you should use it and drive it. Don't worry so much.

I knew about the issue well before deciding on my 135i, but that issue never even entered into my decision process about whether or not to get the 135i.
Yes, it seems to be an obvious issue and happens enough so as not be called "rare", but it's also not as if every or most of our 135i will have this problem.

I say go on your trip and use the services offered by BMW and hold them to it. You pay for the coverage so use it. If BMW finds that it costs them to much money to provide road side coverage along with rental cars, then maybe it'll kick them in the pants harder to get them to get to solution.
This issue covers more than just the 135i, it extends to all models using the TT 3.0 engine.

meh I am taking my wifes jeep home instead of the 135i, I dont want to have to deal with hpfp failures on a 2000 mile trip

I understand what you are sayinfg, but I had the pump go out twice now in 7700 miles. So Cal back to home is about 1500 miles, so it makes me nervous, and that sucks. I've purchased many new cars in my life (335, e46 M3, s4 er just some of the recent ones), and never felt worried about driving any of them. It kind of sucks...
