$2200 for a passenger side window? I'm sure you have insurance? If not, than you're an even bigger dweeb. |

LaCrosse, yeah, I'm sure most of us cross shopped a 135i with a Cayman S and a Carrera, cause they are all in the same price range. Oh, and the Cayman will never have problems, cause Porsches never have any issues, right? |

JD Power just released there annual customer satisfaction rating. Porsche #2. BMW scored just below average. And re-read what I wrote. I am cross shopping a Cayman S against a base Carrera, not a 135.

Not so good traction = Dry with no debris or anything on the road at 13 degrees celsius? You're right... I'm an idiot. $2200 for passenger window yes because they have to repaint the side, new trim, re-do the leather seats as the glass cut them etc etc.. yes insurance - $300 deductible.

I blame Hermes for all of this...the prankster god of the Greeks. You must make a pagan sacrifice, that is bleed out a pig, offer its spleen. Hermes gave us the gift of fire. If you burn it to him, I'm sure he will be appeased and stop pulling these bouts of "bad luck" on you.

There have been brands that have high customer satisfaction, but have poor reliability. I'm not saying this specifically about Porsche, I'm simply pointing out that JD ranking is pointless to reliability and durability questions. Of course, point being, even Porsche's can have problems. I read what you wrote and responded, and I reread what you wrote, and I stand with what I wrote. By your own comments and context, you are now cross shopping Porsche's, apparently due to the poor quality of your 135i and because you have to wait for turbo's to come in. |

Why this?: "April 2009 - Deeb crashes his car due to freshly re-installed summer tires being hardened by friction trying to get out of said snow. - $18,000" It appears you were not on "dry" roads. And, in your 1st incident, you were stuck in the snow as well. Yes, dweeb. Don't use summer tires in winter when there is snow. If the roads were clear and the temps fine to operate summer tires, then your driving skills must really suck as you keep getting stuck in snow and you crash, thus dweeb again. What tires get "hardened by friction"? Heat softens tires. It doesn't harden them. Cold temps harden tires, which again is why you do NOT use summer tires in the winter. You say it was about 55F, but you crashed your car when you "freshly re-installed" your summer tires while there was still snow out, and you managed to get stuck in it, during 55F degree weather, and then somehow you CRASHED your 1 to the tune of $18,000!? What am I missing? I agree all that sucks. But, I also see that your decisions and actions caused the biggest damage to your car, not bad luck. |

So if I read that correctly it looks like Porsche is one of the best. Thanks for the support! Like I said in an earlier post, I love my 135 when it is running right. Lately that hasn't been the case. PS. Love the sig!

Lol, ok let me clarify.... In December, I had my stock runflats on and got stuck in the snow. I spun my tires for quite some time trying to get out... I was in front of my house. After this incident, I switched to winter tires and the RFT's were sitting in my room temperature garage for 5 months until April, when I put them back on. In the time they were sitting they hardened - the rubber compound of the tires became excessively hard. It was for this reason that on the 4th corner I rounded the rear end gave out, while in a line of cars all going the same speed. My wording was confusing but that's the gist of it...

Did you not read the comment in quotes, which was his description of what happened? Here let me post it again: "April 2008 - Deeb crashes his car due to freshly re-installed summer tires being hardened by friction trying to get out of said snow. - $18,000" Now, what's not to get? In that comment, he asserts that he crashed due to his summer tires, being hardened, by friction, from trying to get out of snow. You also seem to have missed where I asked what I am missing, thus asking for clarification, which he did provide. So, he DID drive with summer tires, on snow. I commented to NOT use summer tires on snow. He assets his summer tires got "hardened" by friction. Now, he has clarified that he thinks his tires hardened because they sat in his garage for 5 months. I don't think you followed this thread very well. But, my overall point is clear. If you don't agree with it, that's fine too. If you missed it, here it is again, the point is not to use summer tires in winter conditions, and if you do, then don't blame the car as having "bad luck". The survey in question appears to be the initial quality study, as stated it was recently released. Which, again, doesn't really equate to overall build quality over time. It's sort of a pointless survey imo. Manufacturers us this "initial quality" survey in their marketing, and to me it's misleading. I should have been clearer and more correct, but I thought most would get it given the context if they had read correctly. Last edited by RPM90; 06-28-2009 at 09:04 PM.. |

If one can't take rebuttal or opinions different than their, then they shouldn't post in the first place. That $.50 college word doesn't fit here. There is nothing sanctimonious about saying to someone to not use summer tires in the winter. And, there is no holier than thou attitude when saying that someone shouldn't blame "luck" or "bad luck" when actually their own actions resulted in a negative outcome. |

Lol, you are crazy.
"April 2009 - Deeb crashes his car due to freshly re-installed summer tires being hardened by friction trying to get out of said snow. - $18,000" "said snow" is referring to the December 2008 post, in which I got stuck in the snow. I didn't crash because I drove in snow with summer tires, for the record - the crash took place on dry roads in April, with summer tires on. However the hardening of the tires, caused from driving in snow.. actually let me back up because I feel like I'm being attacked. I drove around my block to test out how the car handled in the snow, and I got stuck infront of my house. So, its not like I was driving 25kms to walmart or something....
