If you have 100% grip and no wheelspin, an auto is a piece of cake. But if there is plenty of wheelspin, I find it would probably be easier to use a manual and use some clutch slip to get off the line.
Agree. These are hard to get off the line in Auto. Unfortunately it's just not as easy as foot on brake/gas and go.

Sorry guys, but the Autos are way easier. I have driven plenty of both (owned 6MT with 260kW ATW for 2 years), and launched both plenty of times. There is a good reason why autos achieve much better results with lower quality tyres, and it is not because all the auto guys are better drivers. The only good manual ETs in this car (or any N54) are with DRs. Has anybody gotten an 11 in a manual without DRs. Do you think this is because auto drivers are more naturally gifted? Fortunately good DRs even the playing field as they have enough grip that you nolonger need to back off the throttle.

Using the clutch to modulate power is a good way to turn wheel spin into clutch slip. Any quick drag car will need a clutch that will be near impossible to do that. A clutch that can take high power/torque is not meant to be slipped. Slipping a clutch is a sure way to increase engine RPM and therefore power, and make it difficult to get clutch grip back.

Someone give BBK a manual and see if he can do sub 2.0 60 foot.

Hmmm... maybe if Adrian ('dontask', not Vishnu adrian!) can let me have a go in his car? :-D

I don't think we're gifted, and I do think auto's are easier, no doubt. All I'm saying is that it isn't as easy as some people seem to think.

I should be there in my WRX. I am pretty sure you would not be the only 135I there.

You planning on going any quicker than last time? Any changes?

No changes adrian just hoping to better my time by .1 or .2, doesn't sound like much but getting this tank off the line is the problem. 1625kgs plus me is over 1700 and it just doesn't get up and go like your WRX. I'm a black on black vert so i'll probably be the only 135 vert so it will be easier for you to spot me. Hope to see you there mate.

Oh you are a cheeky one Edwin! Good to see you enjoying the Wednesday night street car meets at WSID.

Why not join the WSID private race day this Sunday if the entries are still open?

I actually wanted to ask you about the private days. I would so much rather that than Wednesday nights.
