The bumpers, M3 side folding mirror, wheels are the same (but I don't think it is standard).
Main different is no LED strip above the main light, no HID headlight, no angle eyes.

For interior, no temp controlled air-con, plastic trim.

I think the basic version is good for modification lovers & can be converted to track-day car easily.

Because most of the air intakes are black in color & the demo car use black window frame trim, so these features are stand-out from the orange background & looks very nice.
For the back one, everything is in black, looks a little bit less aggressive & the featured air intake mixed with the car, so I personally think less attractive.

Unfortunately they only have orange, black & white.

Hmm..no mention of the Addicts Blue edition huh? Not sure if you've been on this forum prior to the event but there was talk of a shade of blue being added to the color palette. Possibly Monte Carlo Blue.

For the prototype I tested, it has Alcantara trim with orange stitches all over the car included the dash.
Did you also see Alcantara seats? Or were the seats just black leather with orange stitches?

From what we were told, it doesn't sound likely. I know that the German TUV laws are strict on certifying new parts for a car, but I didn't realize that these new parts also have to be certified in each color that is offered. Because of this, it is not very cost effective to offer additional colors with the short model run.

That's probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

It has been said (can't remember which one of you) that two cars were revealed, a black and an orange, one loaded and one basic.

Did they have different seats? One cloth one leather? If so what were the colour combinations?

Was the orange stitching only on the leather option? Or was it on the cloth too?

Have you seen the cloth sports seats in the new 5er M Sport models? Do they look the same as the 1M cloth seats? Seems to me they look similar.

Cheers,

Mark.

Were the seats in the production versions the same as in this prototype? Doesn't look to be any orange stitching? Is that reserved for leather only or was it in the cloth too?

Cheers,

MArk.

our understanding was only THREE colors being produced on the assembly line

I saw white and orange cars on the assembly line.. and at the unveiling of the full car...there also was a black car.

not 1 or 2 or 4 or 5.... THREE COLORS... <spoken in Gary Oldman type voice from The Fifth Element>

So production has begun? A recent comment by Scott over on German Car Forum indicated production would run through first quarter of 2012 and there is no fixed ceiling on production numbers.

No, they're still in pre-production phase.

Yes this is pre-production phase.
The day we have the test drive, they arranged few 1m coupe assembled on the production line just for our visit. These cars likely are the Demo car that will shipped to various countries.
So, not yet on mass production.

per my local dealer, he said the production dates (completed cars) will run from 3/11 - 12/11.

Lots of rumors flying out there, hope BMW will make their announcement soon to clear things up.

Best regards,

It is interesting that BMW Leipzig is in pre-production or "zero production" phase...

When you look at the N55 builds - Leipzig also built the first batch of N55 cars back in Dec, 2009 - last year Along side of the last of the N54's). It wasn't until March, 2010 - that regular N55 production began.

I foud this out thru my BMW dealer parts diagrams - last year. IF you look up a euro 135i on RealOEM.com you will see both engines were built durring this time last year. This actaully is also correct for US spec cars - its just RealOEM's data base doesn't have the latest data files - yet.

This suggest a pattern here, with BMW! Humm...
