BMW Loaners

Just wondering if you are supposed to get a BMW loaner from the dealership you bought your car from if you make an appointment? Everytime I ask my dealership, they say "it depends if we have any."

I thought as long as you make an appointment for service you will always get a BMW loaner car if you leave your car. Now I wish I made them put that in my invoice.

Dealer policy, depends on what you and the dealer agreed to sometimes.

I recently got a 1-series as a loaner, but they only did that if they're supposed to fix something under warranty.

I asked them if they had a loaner before i made the appointment though.

Whenever I call my dealership they ask me if I need a loaner. If I need a loaner, I could be waiting up to 2 / 3 weeks. If I don't, they will let me go in the next day. Of course, I always opt for the loaner so I end up waiting for a while..

usually if you call them a few days in advance, they should have one ready for you. When I took my car in, they gave me a 525xi...

I figured, that's why I called them on Saturday to make an appointment for Thursday and they still said, "it depends if we have any (BMWs) in."

Oh well ... let's see what happens.

My dealer has toyota loaners (and they don't even sell toyota's in this state). Must be amusing to a guy who owns a 760il to get a small toyota for the day.

I always get the BMW loaner every time. What I did after set up the service appointment with the dealer, I called Enterprise in the dealer to reserve BMW on the service date (1 hour after the service time). That's how you do when you want only BMW loaners.

BMW loaners seem to be extremely variable. I have been to 3 dealers in NJ and each seems to have a different policy. Two of the dealers seemed to be proud that they only give loaners to people who purchased thier car there.

My dealer claims they give loaners to anyone with a scheduled appointment regardless of where their car was purchased. I have used thier loaners on 2 occasions. The first time I had a scheduled appointment, but requested to bring in my car a day or so earlier than originally scheduled. With 2 hours notice, they still gave me a X3 loaner.

More recently I had some bodywork performed (got an Enterprise rental paid by insurance). When the bodywork was completed, I left the car to get some other service performed and got a loaner without any appointment. However, this time I got a Toyota Camry (the dealer also has a nearby Toyota and Lexus lot).

My advice would be to investigate this before signing any paperwork for a car. Overall, I don't get the impression that customer service is a high priority for many BMW dealerships. I am glad that my dealer gives EXCELLENT service.

I haven't had to test this yet, but my CA told me to call him directly, not the SA, and with enough advance notice he would ensure I got a BMW loaner.

When i took my car to get checked out they sent me to Enterprise rent-a-car. Niello Bmw took care of everything. When they found out they would need my car for a week, they gave me one of their Bmw loaners. I got an x3, hated it. I would have preffered the Dodge Magnum Enterprise gave me first.

my dealer in Phx(CHapman SCottsdale) always gives bmw loaner vehicles. Interestingly, when I bring in my 330, I get an X5.... when I bring in my wife's X5, she gets a 325.
My SA sheepishly admitted that you get what you don't have to intice you to buy another car.
the only cars on waitlist are the M3 and the M5 loaner (one of each).
