Exactly!!! Sorry we can't all be well off enough to get a BMW right away. I've had this car for 8 years and I finally graduated this May as a Doctor. Now I can finally purchase a BMW after I have been drooling over them since I was 16!

The 335i is a fat luxo cruiser.

The Z4M Coupe is a hardcore sports car.

I'd take the M. The M coupe is going to be a true enthusiast's car - whereas the M3 is a tool magnet.

I can see why you weren't that impressed, you didn't even get into the heart of the power.. I test drove one too, and it's a friggin beast (handling balance is a bit twitchy though, a crummy driver could get into some troubles quick!, not just hop in and drive fast like a boxster or M3)

I'm 6'1" or maybe 6'2" on a good day and fit fine in my Z4

I voted Z4M because I once owned a Z3 2.2 before and leartned that ultimate driving expereince has got to be a 2-seat (1seat even better ) roadster. However, I would neither buy a Z4M nor a 335i coupe with personal reasons.

1. The Z3 2.2 I had was the 2002 facelift USA made Sports Edition which came with M suspension , M steering wheels...etc. This biggest issue is the hard rock stiffness of M suspension did not go too well with the roadster chasis. I know nothing about Z4 chasis but be prepared if you have a bad back and ever go for it. The interior rattlings generated from the Z3 was also horrifying.

2. 335i coupe, very nice but I have a 330i E90 already, so I would consider a 335i Convertible. but that would only if I ever have decided not to go for the 2008 new generation of CLK500 coupe/convertible which will be transplanted with the 388hp S500 Dohc 5.4 litre V8 engine.

Apart from personal reason, the Z4M roadster will be an ultimate experience and it could be a hard decision between the SLK55 AMG too. One thing needs to be aware is roadster with over 300hp is an animal ; I would not think it is safe for inmatured drivers. Not sure if you know, locally here a 130i lost control on highway and it turned over a few times and got squashed, both driver and a passneger were seriously injured in critical condition. A sedan / coupe is still a safer car even it has ample power.

the 2 cars are so different. will buy z4 m for uniqueness, power, prestige and snob appeal.
335i more practical , fast but still not a m car yet. design is still boring in stock form.

The more practical choice for everyday driving would be the 335i however as a second car I wouldn't mind the Z4 M coupe.

Overall it depends on what you need, your finances and what you want, but for myself I would choose the 335I.

I dearly miss my 2000 M Roadster as it was a real sports car. That said, I sold it because I never got to drive it. You know, someone extra needed a ride, more than two shopping bags worth of luggage, no room for the cooler, snow... All this added up to a car that sat in the garage way too much. I sold it before the market fell out when the dealer told me very early about the MZ4 and I got my money out of it. It did make a hell of a commuter car though, cuts through traffic like a hot knife through butter.

As for the MZ4 vs the 335, with the same driver the M coupe will win everytime. Unless you have that extra passanger or luggage than you will need to make an extra trip.

What I will say is the E90 is a wonderful platform. The MZ3 was evil with a suspension that was just waiting to turn the car around if mistreated. I know the MZ4 will be better but all that horsepower in a such a small package is not be taken lightly. Just check out the Z3 forum at bimmerforums.com and see all the guys who wreck their M's due to a short lapse of judgement. All that said, we are trying to decide between the M Coupe or M roadster for next year. We just miss the car that much. And yes the colour will be same as the last one

I agree with that. Although the 335i is anything but run of the mill, I'd choose the M any day over the 335i. I love the M roadsters.

[edit - I see you were talking about the Coupe, not the Roadster... still, I'd pick the M]

By the way the coupe Z4 M has not been launched here yet, so like the E92 I have never seen one in real life, your opinions are much appreciated. Ordered my E90 without ever seeing one in real life, probably would have chosen different options now, but never had a list of any options when i ordered it

Please guys if you vote please just let me know what you are thinking got to spec the 335 in july so I have not got much time to make a decision.

I love the MZ4. I think at this stage of my life, it's the perfect car for me.

But... I think I like the engine of the 335 better. It's newer technology, more economical, and less highly strung than the M engine. Plus it's presumably easier to mod, and the 300ft lbs of torque at 1.5k rpms is hard to argue with.

Anyone know if there's gonna be a Z4 3.5 coupe?

it depends what ur needs are. THere bother great and fast but so are all bmw's. But if u want a 2 seather with a somewhat small trunk yet amazing engine go for the mz. but if you want both great engine, 4 seater, 2 door, moderatly sized trunk, then 335i is the way to go.

Its TIED! JEaz.... I voted for the e92 335i because of its practicalness and its going to be a beauty when im done with it. I love the Z4 M coupe but newer technology and practicallity won it for me.

Z4 M drivers car...and all I do is drive to school and back to my apartment. And around dallas and chicago. Love em both but im getting a 335i e92.

There may be a V8 Z4M coupe, in the last year of its cycle.
