K5R 17x9 Square - Track Setup

Wondering if anyone is running a square 17x9 setup with 255/40 R17s? I'm currently running two pairs of the stock rear (261 style - 8.5" - think offset is 52) rims with 255/35 R18s with a TC Kline coil over, camber plates, and front fender roll. I have 12mm spacers in front and 3mm spacers in rear.
This works very well, but my tire options are basically the R888/R888Rs in that size. I was thinking of going with the Kosei K5R wheels with a 45 offset.

Anyone done this? I'm thinking I'll be OK with a smaller spacer in the front, but the rear may require a good bit of fender rolling?

45 would be the ideal setup for 17x9 imo. I have 17x9 ET42 10mm front spacer, Z2SS, rubs the front bumper edge of the fender, rear too but never compresses far enough to. I would do a 10mm spacer instead of 12mm.

You will probably have to roll the rear fenders, trimming or grinding down the front where it meets the bumper might be necessary too

Thanks. The only issue with running small spacers - like 10mm or less is the whole hubcentric thing. I've ground the front bumper tabs down already; it's more the rear I'm concerned about.
On some tracks the suspension will go to nearly fully compressed; so things really need to fit!

I've posted this elsewhere, but here is what's needed:

Front: -2.0*+ camber, 8mm spacers (aftermarket spring perches may sit lower requiring either shorter springs or bigger spacers), and a fender roll.

Rear: -1.7* camber minimum and good fender roll.

They will rub without doing the roll. Mine still do a bit under full compression, but it's nothing damaging. The fronts clear my fender but they have worn away at my bumper a bit right where it connects to the fender.

When I had my 128 I ran K8Rs with 255 Bridgestone RE-71Rs. Be careful on any tire that is more oriented in track setup, they run wider than a 200tw tire.

-3.4* up front (TCK DA Suspension and TCK Camber Plates)
-1.9* in the rear.

12.5mm spacer up front, no spacer in rear.

Should be good to go with that. If needed you'll have to swap to a shorter spring up front to clear the perch. I ran 6.5" spring up front with no issues

Thanks you Kgolf31 -
-3.4* ? goodness that's a whole lotta camber!
OK - I'm using a very similar TC Kline setup to you with 6.5" springs if memory serves. The big reason for doing this is 17" tires are cheaper, and there is whole slew of more options available in the 255/40R17 tire size like the Toyo RRs and NT01s. Guess we won't know until we try, but it seems like it could be made to work.

Yea, a tad more camber and you might be able to cram a 15mm spacer up front. But at that rate it'll take custom camber plates or an offset bushing in the lower control arm to achieve that effect.

Did you see any downside to going from 18" to 17"? Going from a 255/35/R18 to a 255/40R17 increases the sidewall height by about 14% or just about 0.5". That will certainly reduce response with the additional sidewall flex. However some of that may be offset by a 9.0" wheel vs an 8.5" wheel.

I never ran 18s. All 18s do for me is add tire cost and weight.

You'll see more difference from a 8.5" to 9" wheel width increase over a sidewall height change, IMO.

Thanks. Looking at the Advanti DST Storm S1 wheel which comes in 17x9 with a 45mm offset. Might be another option.
