that's great news. i'm glad they're doing a limited production run. that means the car will be even more highly geared toward the enthusiast.
on the topioc of color, i'd like to see the orange metallic since its seems to be their new "M-specific" color. given that this car is shaping up to be a collector's car... orange might be the way to go.

Any idea how much the 1M will be?

glad you were able to confirm stuff again that we already knew so maybe people will start believing things.
We have been comparing this to the MINI GP for over a year, 2700 units is more than ample to spread the development costs as the majority of development came in the form or setup rather than components (M3 parts). The production run is max 12 months as the new coupe will drop spring 2012 or there abouts. I was hoping for a blue since things had not been finalized when we had heard black, white and orange but it sounds like they decided on the 3 as final. Thanks again and sounds like your experience was fantastic! -M

Hmmm, not sure if this is good or bad... Makes it tough for me since I want to test drive one before I put any money down.

yeap. I am officially done with this car, I'd prefer a 1-2 year old Cayman S over this car any given day.

So, lets see, BMW wants to get younger enthusists into an M car, and emulate the E30 M3. So they way to do that is limit the production to 2700 young, ready in waiting enthusiasts, when in reality, this said limited production will probably drive the price up over the price of a current M3.
Nice strategy. If we review things that Scott has been saying, (as here http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=89) we can see how far off the 1M Coupe happened to be. No DCT No Cabrio Young enthusiasts not likely to either afford, or get hold of limited supply Yet to be determined- carbon fiber roof.

That's exactly what I was thinking. For the first year there going to test the waters and see the turn around for the 1M. Plus it's like there test car because it's the first 1M coming out and I guess they want to make the first generation a collectable but after they should be selling in high numbers. Meanwhile I'll enjoy my up coming 11' E92 M3 which should be here in 6 weeks |

This has M3 GTS price hike written all over it. Kay Segler (not Ziegler, for the poster who said his name wrong, more than once) has been going on and on about a M car that was accessable to younger buyers, stressing a car under the M3. Well, is the M3 limited to 2,700 cars? I think not, it's their bread and butter M car. Then they have the X5/X6 Ms, which were produced in the same vein as the Porsche Cayenne, to make money for other M projects. Then the M3 GTS, a track car to go against the 911 GT3, yet it has DCT, but the "supposedly" more "enthusiast oriented" M version of the 135i has MT. All this M pure garbage and strip tease all leads up to a anticlimatic disappointment liken unto going down to Brazil, finding the "woman" of your dreams, get her naked and seeing that she is packing---more than you are (never happened to me, just trying to give imagery to illustrate my frustration)...
I'll either pick up a M3 or wait for the next gen 1M...all this anticipation for nothing...but I will still wait for final confirmation and specs...yep, BMW did another CSL on the M faithful, it seems |

That's fine, BMW just made a good financial decision for me. I will be tuning my 135 and driving the hell out of it while smiling at how fun it is and the money I saved. Sure it won't be an M, and it may or may not be faster than a 1M, but it has treated me well so far so I will just continue to enjoy the car I fell in love with.
