My diagnosis:

2.bulb connection
3.cars computer that outputs voltage to ballast.

My lights flicker when I turn the car on but after it's on they are stable and I have never experienced any flickering when it's on or when driving. It's been doing this for a few years

What exactly did you code? I had a similar issue when I managed to screw up nettodat coding.

Its been a while, but I think I was coding the frm module to adjust the angel eye voltage, but managed to flash either the wrong version or edited the wrong field, and had my lights start freaking out on me.

Everything was fine when the lights were off, but as soon as they turned on in auto mode, the hid's would turn on, then shut off about 2 seconds later, and immediately attempt to turn themselves back on. Made driving into a parking structure very... interesting.

The first issue you'll run into with poor battery capacity is the digital clock will reset and you'll get a battery low warning light. I get these issues in the winter, etc due to my lightweight battery, my headlights never flicker.

Thanks all, it's in shop atm, was also leaking a bit of coolant

I'll update when I get it back, it does make me wonder tho my xenon's NEVER turned on when I unlocked/locked the car, just the AE + eyebrow, wonder if I coded something in without realizing with the BMW-hat app

You can select that feature in the iDrive or BC menu. I think by default it doesn't come one(headlights).

I think you messed something up in the VO coding. That's why you always save that FIRST, before modding the files/coding. Your dealer will most likely need to replace both footwell modules and then do a total sw flash.

update:

so i couldn't figure out how to restore from bmw-hat but i did figure out the setting i might have triggered unknowingly

you can set the low beams as part of the welcome lights (eyebrow, ae) and they have a "soft" option where they essentially flicker on.. and off.. put it back to inactive and wola, issue fixed

I would be looking into the battery whenever any of my lights flicker I would code voltage monitor off for that light and problem solved. In your case it would have to be a battery or connection issue if you were to turn off voltage monitor and see what happens.
