Anyone else falling OUT of love with their 1er?

This forum is filled with so many people excited about ordering their cars, picking up their cars, etc.

Just wondering if anyone else feels they are falling OUT of love with their 1er?

I've had my 135i convertible for 7 months and have really enjoyed driving it...
But at this point, it seems like the rattles, creaks, and squeaks have gotten the better of me. Whenever I drive over a medium-sized bump, the interior noises are extremely irritating. When I drive on bumpy roads, it sounds like the car is falling apart - it's a rickety mess for sure.

It seems to lack any rigidity whatsoever - so much so I don't believe there is anything that can be done to resolve any of these issues. (Already been in the shop twice...)

Maybe my mistake was getting the convertible.

Either way, I'm starting to look at other cars... which is a real bummer, because I was so excited about this one.

although many have complained of squeaks and rattles with coupes as well, I have 35K miles on mine with none...and it has the added roughness of my springs, sway bars, and fully catless exhaust. I love mine just as much if not more than when I got it!

Hence the reason there is a market for folding hardtops. I've never been in a convertible that never squeaked.

Yeah I anticipated more noise with the convertible top/windows, but all the noises are coming from the A-pillars, dash, air vents, etc. The whole thing just seems so unstable.

My last 2 rag tops were not like this at all. And they were a helluva lot cheaper.

I love mine so much, i'm trying to offset usage on it with the purchase of an E36 just so I can experience driving a BMW daily.

I have about 6k miles on my 135i cabrio and have not heard a squeak, creak or rattle. I also got one of the first ones off of the line (prod date late Mar 08). I would have expected any issues to be showing up first on early production models like mine. Plus I also updated the suspension arms to the E93 M versions that have stiffer bushings. Maybe I just do not have enough miles on the car yet. I know my old E36 cabrio got more squeaks as it aged. Something to look forward too.

I've got 35k miles on my car, and it's developed a few rattles on the passenger side, that I can't find. I haven't been driving it on long distance trips, so it hasn't been a big deal, but with the holiday season coming up that's going to change, and I'll probably put close to 4k miles on it before the end of January. They may become more of an issue after that.

I still love driving the car, but the reliability issues are much more of a concern than anything else I've ever owned that was this new, and that's a bigger issue than the interior to me. It definatly takes away from the ownership experience.

have the 09 Vert. Had one rattle issue, and they replaced the rear pass side window regulator, and now it is as quiet as a church mouse. It really is tight. If your dealer is good, and takes the time, they can resolve any rattle or moise issue you have. Most just do not want to be bothered.

Wind noise at 70MPH really bothers me. Drop to 60mph and its quiet as anything. Wish it were that way at 70MPH since that's what I drive on the highway.

Also at low speeds (0-30mph) I find the suspension has a lot of "vibration" or oscillation in it when driving at low speeds. It feels like the car rocks side to side or the weight is rapidly shifting front to back...problem doesn't occur at higher speeds. Hit a bump and the car "rocks" side to side. One person commented that's just the BMW sport suspension ride but I dunno, its a bit unsettling. I thought maybe I was just too aggressive on the throttle inputs in lower gears (its a manual) causing wild engine braking but I'm not sure anymore...

Yeup, the car still puts a smile on my face when i punch it. Granted its been in the shop for 2 days because of a faulty airbag sensor. But driving this giant ass 535xi makes me LOVE my 135i even more

The ride w/sport is a bit punishing but I def don't regret that choice- this was to be my sports car, yeah its not a cayman but its still answering my questions pretty damn well and the wife and I can vaca with the clubs and ample luggage no problem (tough prerequisite for a sports car not that the 1er is per se.) The armrest is a creaky pos and the dash trim is my other creak suspect but other than that still loving it after all these months- just about to turn 10k. I think once I toast out the hockey pucks I mean RFTs and get some real tires I'll be even happier.

My car doesn't have any creaks, but I'm getting pretty fed up with the reliability. Seems like the car is always in the damn shop. That being said, when it's working properly, I love it as much as the day I got it.

Changing from the RFTs will make a significant difference in how "jarring" the ride is. I was hating mine on roads with expansion joints, but the normal tires have made that much less severe.

Thinking about selling mine, but not because I don't like the car. I'm looking to replace it with a GT3 or C6Z06 for track use. I don't need the 135 as a daily driver any more. Since I quit working in March, I've put less than 2000 miles on it.
