I stopped into talk to my local dealer and asked if they were taking deposits. I've already test drove a 135 last summer and asked them about the 1M on multiple occasions. Salesman showed no interest in helping me and basically said they are only getting 2 cars allotted, and gave me the 'and it won't be you' attitude. Like he even knows what and when they are getting

Need to look for a new dealer in Chicago area.

$500 deposit, 1st on the list, not over MSRP. At least, that was where things stood a few months ago.

Shes ordered!!!! We went up to our dealership hoping to just look at the latest information that our CA had. He was amazed to see that we could actually officially order the 1M so we quickly looked at the options and figured it all out. We decided on... Valencia Orange, Heated seats and premium package. Now the waiting game begins!! Cant wait until the first week of March when she goes into production!!!

Well that is interesting considering US aren't supposed to get the car for a short while after Europe.

All the pricing information was "blocked." And I was also surprised at the production date. But the order # (?) ended in "9" which, as my CA said, meant that it was scheduled for production in the 9th week of the year

I will certainly be going to my dealer in person tomorrow rather than relying on email!

Thanks for the info.

Can you confirm you are in the USA? Surprised to hear this since I was under the impression that December 20th was the earliest possible date to book an order.

As I understand it, dealers will be able to place orders on the 20th. However, this does not mean that they will get the cars for which they've placed orders. That depends on BMW's decision about allocations.

$2,000 refundable deposit today, apparently #3 on the list (no way to verify), Crown BMW, Greensboro, NC.
I get the sense dealers dont have any concrete information yet so they can pretty much ask what they want and promise nothing, and us salivating enthusiasts will nod and cough up in the name of hope!

For what its worth I was told: Only 2,500 for USA; They dont know how many they will be alloted, probably be around March before they will know their allotment (I would think earlier) and can order it, so mid summer delivery earliest. Also said there would be no negotiating on the price - selling at msrp.

Will be my first one too!

Can anyone tell me that has ordered a BMW before ... when it goes into production (hopefully March in Europe), how long does this normally take? Do you get updates on the progress of your car?

I put down a $1000 deposit yesterday and will receive my dealer's second allocation. I just spoke to my advisor this morning and they received details on the option packages and will have me come in today or tomorrow to configure it so they can place the order. It's been a year since I sold my '02 M Coupe so it's been a tough wait but I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Yes am in the US. We were very surprised to see that we could place an order as well. My CA was telling us that we would have to come back on the 20 (which we already knew) to place the order officially. But we were all amazed to see that we could (without pricing of course).

Does anyone know if the orders in the order bank affect allocation? I'm wondering if BMW will give additional allocations to dealers with an order queue, and if they will still hand out allocations to dealers without any order bank entries.
