My 135i
A bit about myself first of all:
I would consider myself a car enthusiast as I have been in the modifications and tuning world since I've had my licence! Previous noteable cars that I have owned have all been JDM (japanese): - Honda Integra Type R - Mazda 3 MPS - Nissan Silvia (s15), 235kwrw - attached pic So this would be my first euro! Since recently selling my s15 on saturday I have been on the hunt for a 135i in Melbourne however am having a difficult time finding one that is... - not overly high on KMs (<80k) - 2009-2010 N54 - has the options I want (M-sport, Sat Nav) - manual transmission - colour (black/space grey/white) - coupe - reasonable price aka not verging onto 335i 2nd hand pricing territory (which I have found) Have a few inspections occuring this weekend - so hopefully can update you guys with my new purchase!!! --------------- UPDATE: Ended up purchasing a 2010 BMW 135i (SGM) with basically all the specs I had mentioned above. Very happy with the car... definitely a step up in peformance from my s15! Last edited by 7smurfs; 04-23-2014 at 12:52 AM.. |

Suits your options, it was on my short list when I was buying my car a few weeks back.

Will be inspecting the car this week. The car does have it's issues aesthetically though... it has a palm sized dint on the bonnet and a few other scratches/flaws here and there which he kindly informed me of. Will have to look at getting this fixed if I do end up purchasing - not sure how much it would involve. What is everyone's opinions on getting a pre-purchase inspection? Will it be necessary for this car with <50k kms? Nice clean s15 Weezy!!! I personally felt sad seeing mine go off into the distance and around the corner. I knew I couldn't buy a similar great looking car for what I sold it for |

135i seems like the next logical step up after the Japanese boy-racer world. Regarding inspections.. honestly, unless you're a mechanic or you're very very knowledgeable on the subject, I'd always get a pre-purchase inspection when buying privately.

Welcome! seems like a lot of jdm guys are moving over to to the 135i/335i platform these days (myself included). You won't be disappointed as there is still plenty of room for tunability/modding over here
With that said though.. I think I'll always have a soft spot for japanese cars.. heheh |

Hey there welcome. I just picked up my 135i N54 on the weekend. Bone stock steptronic and Im coming form a manual tuned audi quattro, a tuned manual VW gti and a dsg VW R32 and I can honestly say the auto in this car is freaking sublime. The twin chargers have no lag whatsoever its like driving a v8 (and sounds like one too!). Def try out an auto, you will be pleasantly surprised, I was convinced I would get a man.
Oh and heres some tech stuff I found recently on the N54. Nice read. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38856 |

I've moved on too. I think its because they are getting on now and all the good jap stuff was in the 90's with some just scraping into the 00's. Even the latest R34 and 200SX you can get are cracking 12 years old now

Yup I had owned JDM cars also, and was going to buy a R34 GTR when the business I had at the time took a shit with the GFC. Fast forward a few years and I was ready to buy a new car, being in my 30's I guess I had matured and whilst I still love the RB26 I decided to find something more subtle and bought a 335i.
Definately haven't regretted it, but damn they're right when they say bmw = bring money with you! They just require a lot more maintenance then a typical jdm car and the parts are also more expensive but they're totally worth it imo! Good luck with the hunt mate, I totally recommend a pre vehicle inspection with a bmw specialist. |

Decided a pre-purchase inspection would be the way to go, even though I feel that I am knowledgeable enough in cars however this will be one of my biggest car purchases price wise so do not want to have things go wrong!
Looks like many of you have come from JDM! Good to hear |

I used to own Integra DC2, MR2 Turbo, S15, EVO9...all great cars and relatively cheap to maintain...but no longer suit my age
If I ever want to start tracking I think I will get older Porsche GT3s As a joke JDM = Just Date Men BMW = Bang More Women |

Wow! So I just checked the prices for pre-purchase inspections and I'm getting quotes in the $350 mark... did not expect it to cost quite so much!
I think I will just be very careful tomorrow and look thoroughly through, asking the right questions etc Last edited by 7smurfs; 04-16-2014 at 08:33 PM.. |
