JB+ : yes or no?
Guys,
I'm debating on idea of adding JB+ to my car. I like an idea of more power (who doesnt?) and easy installation. But what about real-world use? I would like to hear some opinions on that: benefits/ drawbacks, reliability, gas mileage, whatever else you think is relevant. All opinions welcome. |

Check out the 135i engine threads, I love mine, and You get better Gas when driving NORMAL .. But its so hard to not drive fast. Just remember to take it out and clear out all codes with a BT before going to the dealer

Its worth it. Real-world use is fine, its not too much power but enough to put a bigger smile on your face. Gas mileage is about to same..dare I say..maybe better if you drive correctly?

As said above the JB+ is a great alternative to the JB3 if you dont like the idea of messing with the wires on the PCM. It is easy to plug in and you get a great power increase. It can be adjusted for more boost as well so you can get even better power gains. Great way to go and save money at the same time.

JB+ is sweet if you just want a simple power boost... Once I get my new HPFP I plan on turning up mine from 50% to 75% and going back to the track...

Is it something that we can install on our own?

Absolutely, It is very easy. No need to go into the pcm or remove the cowl. You can install and remove it fast. If you have any questions just PM me and I can help. With the 135 you just remove the air box to get to the TMAP sensor. It is not hard at all.

Just installed mine today, well worth it.. Pulls hard, easy to install, and a great alternative to a jb3 if your not willing to mess with the ECU. The only pain in the ass was getting the stock airbox in and out, apart from that install is a breeze.

Over 6000 miles on mine w/ JB+ running at stock setting and it's worth every penny. Mine is also the pre-production release version as well.
Everyday driving gets much easier with it as the massive torque boost you get makes getting off of stop lights a lot smoother and quicker. My gas mileage goes up with my economy driving style during my commute since it takes far less effort to get up to speed. I have it installed with a DCI (makes removing it easy without the airbox in the way) and it still hasn't thrown any codes at all when doing a monthly check with my BT scanner.

I installed mine about 6000 miles ago and set it to 100%. I also did the selenoid bypass. Love it, Awesome little tune. I never take it off and my dealer has never said anything about it.
Been to the dealer with it twice, once for oil change and once for a rock that got stuck in my tire.

It depends on the reason why your taking your car in. Im sure if something malfunctions and you get a code, service light, ce light failed turbo or HPFP, then you should probably take it out and clear all codes just in case. You wouldnt want to have to pay for a blown turbo. ITS AMAZING
