Riss Racing Scoops

I'm wondering if you need the Riss Racing intake to use these scoops? If not, I am wondering where I may purchase these asap.

^^^ Woah who told you you could use a picture of my car!!... j/k!

You do not need the RR intake or plenum to use the scoops... I like them a lot, go for it!

I got them from RR themselves... but it was when they first came out, you may be able to find some used ones or a vendor having a sale...

if not.. http://www.rissracing.com/

Yup like others have said.. these scoops can even be used on stock intake.. they do not interfere with any part of your intake... they function has a part that directs air into the intake and thats it.

You don't need the intake but it works well with the directed air flow from the scoops. I am running the aFe Dual Cone Intake which also works for this setup.

I love the red look, I have the same setup on my car!

Honestly, theyre way too expensive for what they are. (a piece of bent metal)

They do seem to work well though. Hard acceleration is a little smoother, but I could just be imagining things. However, they do add confidence when opening the car up, because you can be sure the car is getting the air it needs.

(ps. driving the car in the rain with the scoops installed is kinda nerve racking. Noone like hydro-lock haha)

My concern is, how much of the radiator are these blocking? And does it affect the engine's ability to cool?

Even though I have the AFE ones, they don't affect the ability for the radiator to cool the engine. It also doesn't block the rad that much. I have had mine for 3 months now and haven't had any issues.

+1 Been running mine for several months through several long hot drives and never had an engine cooling issue. I keep a close eye on the engine oil temperature to make sure.

How could using these scoops to direct a bit more air over the top of the engine possibly help the intake airflow in a stock configuration which has a sealed airbox that doesn't have any open elements like an aftermarket intake??

Because the scoops capture air then feed into the stock plenum, which connects to the OEM airbox. So whether you're running the stock configuration, or a DC intake, the scoops feed air through the same setup.

I'd get the AFE scoops. I just had a nightmare with Riss, and the scoops I got were horrible quality:
