w/ out doubt I'll never in evers buy another Volvo after this. It's not that I don't like my car, I do, I love it, but there's NO excitement in it whatsoever. I do plan on upgrading the sway bars to get something out this college experience.

I always thought I would eventually own a Volvo. Then I rented one a couple of years ago. One word that aptly describes it is "yuck."

Hahahah, thanks for the encouragement! Nah, it's a great first car/ car for college. Great torque, especially for merging.

thats not completly true. Go drive a S60 R with a manny tranny... thats a pretty quick car. The turbo makes it easy to rip a ton of hp out of that engine really easily too. I read in auto-week that the volvo racing team gets 550 hp+ out of an essentially stock s60R engine.

i have an unfair opinon though cuz im really a big fan of that car and planned to get one until i decided to hop back on to the bmw bandwagon.

So with that following the S60/S40 styling... The S40/60/80 should just be referred to as Small/Medium/Large.

I have to see the real car to say anything. But I liked the S60 styling alot... ...especially the T5. Lots of high end power. But the best thing about volvos are the seats. I don't think there are any better seats elsewhere..but hated the damn 18-wheeler turning radius

don't think so, I don't think 330 or 530 can catch my 04' S80 T6 from 0-60mph, the turbo is almost always on. only 545 can match it.

it's funny how people don't like a car because of its brand. I'm sure lots of responses will be different if you slap a BMW badge on that exact same car.

I'm not defending Volvo but you guys haven't even seen or sat in that car yet. You never know if they actually learned lessons from before and fixed every problem in the new car. Most people that thinks Volvos are the safest and are boxy should test drive one today. It's not the best car but it's definitely worth it at its prices. Don't be ignorant.

btw...i'd trade my e90 sport seats for S60 sport seats any day. It not comfortable for a long drive. I used to be able to drive from NY to Michigan for 8 hrs non-stop in my S60 when I was a sophmore in college....now I can't even drive 2 hrs and I'm still in the same university (so definitely not the aging thing )

The styling is different. The way the Volvos are now it's basically just the size of them that changes.

Anyway, don't be defensive. My last car was an S70 (I'm still trying to sell it actually). I really liked it. You can't beat the Volvo seats.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. If there's one thing I can't stand about a lot of BMW owners out there is how they denigrate other brands ! Just 'cause you love BM's and own one doesn't mean all other brands are crap ! When I do finally get my Bimmer some time in the next year I won't instantly become a snob and start spitting on Japanese cars (I owned 3-4 of them before) or Volvo's (what I'm driving right now). My S60 2.5T AWD has kick ass torque, good AWD, I like the styling (but that's very personal), the seats are freakin' therapeutic ... what I don't like about it ? Mostly the awfull turning circle (worthy of an 18 wheeler ) and the supsension which is too soft for my liking (but I like really stiff springs).

Anyways hope I didn't offend anyone, but I had to spit it out...

I like the styling of the S60 as well. I considered it when I was in the market, but the E90 being a brand new design was a big draw.

I see you're from Montreal. Check out the "Official Montreal" thread in the regional section. I think some of the Montreal area peeps are going to do the BMW driver training in the spring. You should come even if you don't have your bimmer yet.
