Cool door sills

Can you fellas please tell me if this was a deliberate design in the e82 series?

just checked mine, think you may have a panel shape and fit issue.

looks like a repairable ride off job..??
That would be a bad inperfection if that was from brand new.
Take it back, you dont want any internal corrosion

There's definitely a panel fit issue there. It almost looks like your middle panel has pulled away from the rear section.

Here's a photo of mine. Bad photo but hopefully you can see that by comparison it is fitting quite snuggly with virtually no gap at all. IMO, the fit is even tighter than it looks in the photo.

Ian, your horizontal join looks welded. There's no gap while all ours have...it is a AW thing?

It's perfectly fine on the other side which further emphasizes the fault at hand. The car is brand new, ive only had it for about 3 weeks.

The AW accentuates the gaps. NPV looks best. In your pic, the gap at the top looks bigger. It may have to do with the angle of shot.

My 1M's now as good as (how it should have been when) new! The dealer sent me to a repairer, and it was pretty much a 15 minute job. Apparently there were just some misaligned clips beneath the black sill trim.
