Any high mileage 1's out there? How is it holding up?
Looking at some used 128i's. I've considered a purchase before but have always found an excuse not to do it. Ideally when I buy a car I am in for at least three to five years and put 50k miles or more on it.
Most of the cars I am looking at are already 50k+ miles and my question is how the 1's are holding up as they reach and exceed triple digits. How many miles are on your 1 and how is it doing? |

128i's will be holding up better for the most part on cooling related items.
That said, crossed 60k in my 135i, no issues. Waiting on the water pump time bomb now.

This car has been vastly more reliable than any of my previous cars. Ford? Nope. Subaru? Nope. Honda? Nope. 1 series wins apparently. Off topic, are you looking for a 6MT stripper 128i? Or just want a NA I6?

I've put 103,000 miles on my 128 since i bought her new in 2008.
haven't really had many issues that weren't wear and tear related. I did have a bad window motor and radio replaced under warranty. I'm planning on keeping the 128 for at least 3 more years and 50-60,000 miles. are you worried at all about maintenance costs? I have done quite a bit of wear and tear items between 50k and 100k miles. summer and winter tires, shocks, brakes, etc. Quote:

157,000 miles. Only repairs are a frozen right front brake caliper and a Mass Air Flow sensor (immediately after I cleaned the original one - so I don't really consider this a failure). Everything else just maintenance items.
Car is completely stock. Bought the car at 35,XXX miles. Total maintenance costs for the 122,000 miles is $8500. My guess is 10-15% of that amount is independent mechanics' labor, rest is DIY. Last edited by Pkaia524; 04-29-2015 at 08:32 PM.. |

bought my car @ 55k miles January 2014, has 85k on it now, no issues to report, just typical maintenance items, oil, spark plugs, coils, a HID bulb going out and that's about it.

I'll probably preventatively replace my wp/tstat at around 80k to save myself the trouble of getting stranded as this is our do everything car. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798195

Currently at 110,000 miles in my 128. Only replaced valve cover + cover gaskets, plugs and coils, and just recently the brake pads.
Overall really happy with how well the car's held up. |
