335is clutch
If replacing my clutch with the 335is clutch do I have to also replace the flywheel? If so can I use the Mfactory smfl or do I need to go with a stock flywheel?

Flywheels are wear parts just like clutches and pressure places. They should be replaced or resurfaced with every clutch change.
Dual mass flywheels at a minimum make resurfacing problematic, and possibly not practical if you cannot find someone who is qualified and confident in actually performing the resurface service on a DMF. There have already been good discussion on that subject so your best bet would be to search for "resurface" and/or "flywheel" and read the previous discussions. This could be an opportunity to switch to an aftermarket single mass flywheel with reduced weight, but increased NVH.

Just had my clutch replaced at the dealer. The rear main seal leaked.. and ruined the clutch. 38K on the clutch. They replaced the dual mass flywheel along with all necessary parts.

Yeah, they hold a lot more torque. If i'm not mistaken they come stock on the 335is/550i/650i and 550i's come with 480tq stock and have been handling bolt ons.

The first question I would ask is how many miles do you have on your current FW? Although, it's very hard to tell without actually seeing the flywheel surface. There are a few machinists who can resurface DMFWs but they are hard to find and then you have to consider the age (fatigue) of the springs inside the DMFW.
I'm actually in the same boat and I'm looking to replace my stock clutch with the 335is/550i unit, however my stock cutch isn't worn, just weak. It started slipping on Sunday under full power in 3rd and 4th. This was two weeks after the new E85 backend flash from Terry, E55 mix, and a 19.5 psi target. It simply can't can't hold the torque that I'm making. I'm trying to determine if, at only 20k miles, a new flywheel is really necessary. I'm going to search for local machinists and see if they are willing to resurface mine if that's even necessary. Worst case you can pick up a new one from Ebay for $600-$700.

You can pick up a new (reman) 550i Clutch & SMFW for only slightly more than that.
Would probably cost similar (or more) to buy a new clutch & have your DMFW resurfaced |

My buddy is installing this exact setup (Mfactory SMFW and 550i clutch) soon, so I'll be able to see it first hand. Any insight as to how well an unsprung clutch works with a smfw?

Yeah based on everyone else's experience and the reviews on both the 335is clutch and Mfactory SMFW, that's the path i'm going to take. Like amsnow440 said mine also only slips when i get on it tuned. Stock and Cobb OTS maps hold fine. Use to just be on my E-50 Pro-tune but after having my 93 map revised by Dzenno it slips on 93 now too. Moarr Powaaa!!! Thanks for the help guys.

These cars + "cheap" do not go together.

They do not need to be replaced in unison. I've replaced several clutch discs and pressure plates with the original flywheel in place. Obviously if it's been slipping and has caused heat scoring on the surface, it should be replaced. But you won't know till it's apart. They aren't cheap to replace, so if you don't need to, I wouldn't.

Does anyone know how much the 335is/550i clutch kit will safely hold?
I'm currently having the same problem, only mine is dynod at 452whp and 600nm on 98 octane and planning on changing the stock exhaust and remap with 102 octane.

Most likely you will be traveling pretty slow.. Rpms will be low, engine speeds low, going wot in a higher gear at a low rpm heavily loads the motor and can cause engine damage/ bend rods because of the additional stresses.
