BMW 1M For Sale (What's it's worth)

Good day,

I found a cdn spec fully loaded BMW 1M with 610kms, which is basically brand new. The seller is wanting 60k. Is that a little too much, there is no warranty and I figure it should be a little less. It's the Valencia Orange which is nice and I can get 2.9% financing over 5 years. Only made 220 in Canada.

60k Canadian is a great deal You better jump on that. 60k us. Not sure. Seems high.

I know you feel that 800K or miles is new but the that's not even good for the car to sit like that. Tires are probably bad. The brakes rot from sitting too. They are still driveable but get noisy from sitting. the manual even says so. Mine was a Canadian 1M that only had 8900 miles. The brakes pulsated a bit not from warpage but corrosion that builds up from not getting used. I don't know what happens in the engine. Rubber is mean to expand and stretch. If it sits immobile for a long time, it deteriorates faster than if it's used a bit, especially tires. Plastics also age even if not driven. Leather dries also just from sitting. You can do a lot with climate controlled environments, etc but it is still a 4 year old car. Also, you need to make sure, but it might still have the original diff and tranny fluid since the break in is at 1200 miles and the oil is to be changed after two years regardless of miles.

Anyway, 60K Canadian is a great deal. 60K is good if you are loaded and money to spare and want to say you have a 1M with less than 1000 miles. I would almost prefer one like mine that had about 8K miles in 4 years where it got 2K miles per year that something like that. I hope that helps.

Cool, did you pay a little less? I am looking at 800/month for payments. They said they will do a comprehensive check on vehicle before I buy. I will ask for inspection report as well.

I bought mine with 29 miles on it. I followed normal break-in requirements and haven't had any issues with anything...no strange noises or vibrations. I'm not too sure I'd be worried about it. I would do it all over again without hesitation. I appreciate what plenty of people have to say about not driving the car, and I agree to an extent. It seems to me that the majority of ill effects would need to be longer term than a few years. ...if the car had sat for 10 years without any care I could understand being a little more hesitant.
The price sounds great! I say go for it and just break it in gently and replace all fluids at 1200.
Good luck!

...and if you get it it's amazing to drive off in essentially a brand new 1M!

Put a deposit on it asap so you don't loose it. Do make sure to visually inspect it( make sure all seams and body panels line up, it's as clean as the miles dictate and do get a paint meter on it. Don't do the " oh it has such low miles nothing can be wrong with it approach. Once you verify it's all good after a quick drive buy it on the spot!!

Nachob is correct, all these newer cars and their parts are really made of plastic and rubber and time is not their friend like the old BMW's. They go down hill much quicker and you need to stay on top of them. That being said the car is unreal and you HAVE TO BUY ONE!

Good luck, I hope you can get a good one!

Agreed on replacing tires - mine were fairly hardened when I bought the car with 1500 miles in 2014.
