Just curious to gain some insight from people who've had their car longer than me, how fast are your treads wearing down on the OEM runflats? Assuming max track use of 2 times per year on them. Let me know, thanks!

1) They are not wearing fast enough so I can dump them in a landfill*

I drive conservatively, no track time. I have two years and 20,000 Km's with 5/32 tread left.

I drive very hard, my RFT's lasted 15,000km.

So there you go - drive hard and get 15,000 Km - or take it easy and get 30,000 Km. Every time you hear tires squealing, you are taking miles off the rubber.

I hope that with that using the RFT snow tires and stock RFTs will last 80,000km combine, lease duration. However with a 140 tread wear rating I severely doubt it.

I'm annoyed that a requirement for the BMW roadside assistance is RFTs.

I'm just under 23,000 miles and the rears need to be replaced pretty bad. Fronts are good.

Don't forget that most of the responses have been from 135i owners who have 18" RE050A tires with a tread rating of 140.

If you have the 128j with ZSP and 17" wheels as I do, you may have either Pirelli PZero (220 rating), Pirelli eufori (180) or Goodyear NCT5 (240) RF tires.

FWIW, a good deal of my driving is mountain road & highway and I wouldn't run the Goodyears on a track as they are touring, not performance tires. My rear NCT5 tires are about to be replaced (3/32" tread remaining) at 24,000 miles and the fronts will almost double that at about a total of 46,000 miles tread life expectancy.

Like they say, YMMV!

This is basically the only response anyone can legitimately give other than their own personal experience, which can and will vary greatly.

Watch your acceleration off the line and don't take corners very fast and you should see some pretty good life. A few track days will take only a small amount of life off your tires, but simulating track days at every corner will wear through your tires incredibly fast.

RE050 RFTs lasted me 2 years 25,000km 60% urban

I am at 33,000 km now and have maybe a 4-5 thousand left in them. I drive probably 'medium-low' in speed. Fronts are still excellent.

Completely gone in about 8,000 miles.

Remember that treadwear ratings have little to do with anything, as they are not standardized across brands, and hence can only be used to compare tires made by a specific manufacturer. For example, a Bridgestone 140 does not equal a Hankook 140...

On 128i's with Sport package they get RE050A tires

I have experience with Goodyear NCT5 RFT tires 17" staggered on a (2008) 128i and now transferred on to a (2010) 135i.

We are conservative drivers, fast, but never any squealing or burnouts. The rear tires seem to go about 20,000 miles (4/32)
the fronts should be good for 30,000 or 35,000 miles. I am not too worried about traction but aquaplaning is a slight concern as the tires approach the end of their life..

I use winter tires (Hakkapeliitta R RFT 17"s, non- staggered) for four months of the year so it is a little hard to gauge. The directional Hakkas will be rotated front to back so I should be good for 3-4 winters.
