Tii Vinyl Group Buy Feeler

As many of you are aware, the 1 Series is the spiritual successor to the BMW 2002. Small sports sedan/coupe with a bubble canopy for excellent visibility and daily driving potential. The 2002 itself had many variations from the standard spec all the way up to the Turbo(hello 135i).

The other model that they produced specifically in response to the clamor from masses for a lighter, high performance, NA version was the Tii. It was one of the first mainstream fuel injected cars, which allowed for more aggressive cam timing as the engine could be tuned via in the injectors to allow low speed daily drivability(hello DISA/VANOS version 0.1). I very much see our 128i, especially those that have been tuned up, as the modern Tii in spirit.

In 2007 BMW showcased the 1 Series Tii Concept, displaying a number of items which they would later produce for the BMW Performance catalogue for the 1 Series. One of the items that did not make the cut was the Tii Vinyl on the front and rear. In the spirit of fun, befitting our enjoyable weird little cars, I contacted one of our sponsors about replicating that vinyl for us to use. He was more than happy to do it, and also offered to make more in whatever color desired at various price breaks which are the following:

1-10 pairs = $17.50 each +shipping
10 pairs = $14.50 each +shipping
20 pairs = $12.50 each +shipping

I have zero interesting in making money with this. I just thought it would be a fun way to visually express the recent evolution of this section from "Not a 135i" to "Balanced performance for the classic BMW enthusiast". We have fantastic, fast, nimble, light, and powerful little cars these days. I certainly have pride in it.

If you have any interest, post below.

This is just for the Tii bumper decal, correct? Not the full stripes/decals all over? If so i'd prefer it in simple black, I'd toss it on once i peel the dip off my car in spring.

That's correct, just the bumper vinyl. BMW sells the stripe already.

So so far:

TheStig: 2 pairs black
63128i: 1 pair black
Andrey GTA: 1 pair silver, 1 pair black
Mechavore: 1 pair white
Jksgoh: 1 pair black

Looks like we are at 7 so far. The design would be the same as the picture with the last letter being a border.

STIG Can you clarify the size? The images you show have 2 different sizes. The rear bumper size is smaller than front. Which will you aim for?

I believe it will be both, but I will confirm.

Which fortunately wasn't the case for the real Tii, which stressed lightness and agility, along with an advanced NA power plant. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, that the N52 will be the most advanced NA I6 that will ever exist.

Why can't we...

Why is it that those of us with the Lowly 128i cannot have a discussion without some 135 owner stopping by to puff up their feathers and put us down?

If you mod your car and then bitch when it breaks, you MIGHT be a 135 driver...

If you wear out your clutch 'early' because you drive like an idiot, you MIGHT be a 135 driver...

If you are stranded by the side of the road in a BMW that begins with a '1', you MIGHT be a 135 driver!

If you're stranded because of a crapped out fuel pump/turbo/wastegate, and didn't have the sense to buy an anticipatory replacement fully knowing its failure rate, and then bitch about it, you MIGHT drive a 135.

If you can't stand to see people enjoy the same car you overpaid for without the useless turbos (unless you're tracking it) and maintenance issues, you MIGHT be a 135 driver.

If this offends the VERY FEW 135 owners with whom I have had an intelligent discussion, I apologize. Especially Dackelone, who does not act like a 135 driver at all!

I get it. Your car is faster than mine; maybe your penis too, but I don't care. I don't drive your car and I don't screw your wife. All I care about is enjoying my cheep peace-of-shit 128 without some clown telling me - reminding me - of what a poor decision I made to get the 128, of how poor I must be to not get the 135, or how the 128 is not worthy of the BMW badge.

This is a 128 subforum. It says so in the title of the subforum. Are 135 owners so busy fixing their cars that they have not had time to learn to read? Here is a little test to see if you should post here... go out and look at the back of your car... if it says '128' back there, post at will. If it says '135' back there, go post elsewhere, please.

Rant over. Back to enjoying my Hyundai 128i.

The 135 has a proven track record as recorded here on this well known, 'bible' of track times of the worlds performace cars. I compel you to show us the 128i time from this site. I'll wait.........
That speaks volumes.
