Total rubbish. The N46 is nowhere near as good as the award winning engine of the year 2.0TFSI.... 200hp, easy to tune, loads of torque, this engine is a league above the N46!!!! I think if you asked Golf GTI owners which engine they would prefer either the 2.0TFSI or the N46, every single one would keep their existing engine. The 1er coupe is just too heavy for the N46 and the engine is gutless.

The 120i stats are: 170hp 155 lb/ft (torque) 0-60 - 7.8 secs Top speed - 139mph (so no limiter) Combined mpg - 42 For comparison purposes - Golf GTI 208hp 200 lb/ft (torque) 0-60 - 6.7 secs Top speed - 149mph Combined mpg - 36 BMW doesn't have an engine to compete with VAG's 2.0TFSI engine which is a real weakness, but I am sure they will address this with the new 1er.

When the 1-series was initially launched in Europe, I remember the 2.0l of the 120i was criticized for its lack of character (I was personally sad they went for 4 cylinders instead of 6 but that's only me)
