Tons of chips/roadrash...on the back of the trunk?
I have no idea how this happened. I just moved to San Francisco a few weeks ago and today I noticed tons of chips/road rash on the back of the trunk (the area where the 3rd brake light and the license plate are). It's about 40-50 chips
I'm suspecting it might have happened when my car was being transported from Florida to SF, but when I got it, it was so dirty, there was no way I would be able to notice these when I took delivery. I had the car washed/detailed but they never pointed it out, so it could have happened afterwards. After my car was detailed I drove it 4 times. What are my options? Should I just get the trunk repainted? Can a pro fix each chip without it not being very obvious? View post on imgur.com View post on imgur.com

Ugh. My car gets dirty back there, but it's just water spray and the dirt with it, no way rocks hit there. Did you see it get unloaded from the transport truck, and was it put on with the butt end facing forward? And perhaps on the top rack? I'm guessing it was and that is when it happened. Crappy.
Off the top I would be looking to get it painted. I have tried touch-ups myself and I can do a decent job, but that is for one or two chips here and there, it would take a year to do your trunk and even then it'll most likely look DIY. Well, that's what would happen if I did it. Curious if others have had better luck? |

I'm not sure which direction my car was facing. It looks so bad. I may have to have the trunk repainted which really sucks. I think I need to start having a "fix-my-car-up" fund and fix all the cosmetic issues I have such as dings, chips, etc...

Granted I'm only viewing these via an iPhone, it almost looks like BB gun shots. If so, you might be able to have your insurance help with the cost of the repairs. If I'm way off with my lack of screen, ignore me.

I'd look into getting it repainted.
- I have rock chips on my hood which are an eyesore, believe me I know. I've done nothing but complain about it here on the forums. I AM dreading the paitn not matching 100% But I think the end-all solution for all serious paint damage is respraying it or "air brushing" it.

sorry to hear that happened to your car.
i havent experienced anything like that on my car - i live in sf too. what you will experience here in our city are knicks on your bumper if you park in the street. people will murder your bumper especially if you are outdoor parking on a hill. welcome to sf and if you want to join us this weekend (17th) PM me or respond in this thread for more info - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=651628&page=3 |
