I was following/driving beside a "car" the other day not knowing it was a 2-series. I actually thought it was a new Civic or Camry. When I finally read the badging I thought BMW did a good job making it look "Japanese".

Anyone says 228i better... is right
Anyone says 128i better is right also.

Now the first moment I saw an e46 I loved it and when an e90 replaced it I thought thats nice but I'll keep the e46. e90 looked much improved in design and modern but I didn't think it was better driver.

I love my e88 but it's front end looks dowdy and dated and f22 looks modern and aggressive. The biggest issue I have with the f22 looks is...(sorry) it reminds me of a refreshed 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix with Bmr badges.

In your pictures the 2 series doesnt look that much bigger. maybe a little wider and just a very little bit longer, but other than that it looks similar in size. For me its hard to compare a base 128 to a base 228 because i think they both look boring. The Msport package and the 235 is where they start to look good. I dont think the 235 looks that bad and seems to be the next logical step in the 1series evolution. BMW softened the lines and stretched the car a bit. That being said, Im not getting rid of my 135 for a 235 but Im curious as to what the 2M is going to look like. Maybe the 2M will cause the price of the 1Ms to go down, I can dream cant I?

EDIT: I looked up the specs. According to car and driver the 235 is
Wheelbase: 105.9 in
Length: 175.9 in
Width: 69.8 in Height: 55.4 in
Curb weight (C/D est): 3500-3550lbs

the 08 135 is
Wheelbase: 104.7 in
Length: 171.7 in
Width: 68.8 in Height: 55.4 in
Curb weight: 3420 lb

So 4 inches longer, 1.2 inches longer in wheel base, same height and 1 inch wider while being marginally heavier.

The new 2 series is much better looking than the new 4 series.
How can you argue with that??

I assume your 128 has the automatic. If that's the case, I don't blame you. But the straight-six is a gem compared to the turbo-four.

True that, the sound of that magnificent na six was SO much better than my new turbo four . But the manual is so fantastic, it more than makes up for it.

That will be a sweet ride. In Orlando, you have to special order a MT. Can't believe it's come to that!
To each his own, but an automatic 1 or 2 series just isn't my thing -- I've never understood the attraction.

Why no sunroof? Are you super tall? Just wondering.

People can knock on the new 2-series....but did everyone see that Car & Driver test this month of the 228i AUTOMATIC??? 0-60 in 4.9 seconds!!!! The 8-speed AT isn't my cup of team but....... WOWOWOWOWOW!!!!

That is amazing.....good mileage too and 4.9 to 60??? 4.9 beats prob 95% of the cars on the road. I gotta say it....good job BMW.

I'll take a car with soul and character and a second slower over performance numbers. The numbers tell only so much, what C/D seemed to say in the article is that it was not as exciting as it should have

yeah I guess I'm not alone

I was a GM owner with a 96 Buick Regal GS coupe 30mo lease so the reveal of each car from photos to looking at the car for the first time. Generally speaking most BMW purest would ignore a late 90's GM and not see the similarity.

Saw a 228i on the showroom last week and m235 outdoors and it doesn't look to me like the Grand Prix GT in person. It looks like a BMW from every angle. My new critique, it looks to much like e93 from the rear and very fresh front design over all perfect BMW. I look forward to seeing the f23 alot more now that I don't think BMW made a new Pontiac.

all i know is that i love the 1 series. i plan on buying another 135i in the near future. if i happen to come up on a decent sum of money (hahaha) i will buy a 1m.

with that said…i was tempted to trade in my 135 for a M235. i really do like the looks and styling of both. the more i look at the booty of the 2 series, i see and think 3 series, 4 series, and 5 series; which is very disappointing to me. the other thing that turned me off of the 2 series was the steering. a lot of the reviews that you watch on youtube or even hear from some of the "HONEST" guys at the dealership is that the steering is the only thing that is really lacking in the new 2 er. the guy that i had sat down with told me straight up, "i want to make the deal with you because its my job to, but I'm gonna be honest with you, you will not like the steering." at that point i took it as a no brainer, but i do like the styling of both haha.

I absolutely love my '13 135i! The only mods I've done so far is to add PPK1, tinted the windows and installed a JL audio XD600/6 and a Rockford Fosgate power series 500 with 2 P2 10's.

I plan on picking up 19' VMR V810's with pilot SS' soon followed by BMW performance exhaust.
