The Seats do need some coding - I've done it on my my M3. I'm taking it to a company in Germany to get it done. I went for manual seats so that the recode was easier.

a) OK, I found the answer to this one (is this a very similar engine to the E46 M3, or based on the 335i?) Based on the 335i

b) is the exhaust note metallic like an E46 M3, or smooth/burbly like a 330i - or inbetween or what? It's not a raspy note like the E46 CSL more a deeper note

c) what mpg? I know, not important, but interested.....
I'm getting 25mpg at present

Congrats nieue!! Not sure how you managed to get it before the official launch.

Good to know you're getting decent mpg.

It would be interesting to know, exactly what needs to be done. I assume this will only deactivate the side airbags? Will the steering wheel airbag and passenger airbag work as normal?

Nieue, I saw the black one last yesterday at cars and coffee. I am not a fan of black cars, especially in Southern California, but I must admit, the black was stunning. I was also lucky enough to get a ride in a 1M thanks to the generosity of a fellow 1Addict. The 1M is everything I like. The performance, sound, seats were excellent. The only issue is that I was surrounded by many M3s going up to Bimmerfest. I have wanted an M3 for over 20 years now and when I see a clean E46 M3, my heart skips a beat. Same for a nice E90 or E93 M3. The 1M seems like the car I should "marry" but the M3 is out there. I feel like a bachelor that has to pick between a great girl vs the expensive "hottie" if you get the the analogy.

So since you have both, if you could only have one, would you still go 1M or M3?

Thanks again.

It depends on what you are using it for. Every day twisty back roads 1M - for track use M3 with DCT (I just can't ignore the gearbox it's that good) Perfect world 1M CSL with DCT - I have one straight away. For me I'd have the M3 it's awesome, but the 1M just keeps getting better and better. This is such a hard question to answer.

It would be my daily driver. Drop off the two kids, 5 and 9 at school, then hit my favorite on-ramp, then work. After work, hit the onramp once more, pick up the kids and go home.

Saturdays, take a nice drive on some twisties, but mostly a few on-ramp bursts.

Periodic road trips up to the mountains and short bursts here and there for a little excitement. The M3 fits the bill but it's a lot more expensive. I just test drove one and it was beautiful. comfortable and sounded nice. It did take a long time to warm up, then felt a little sluggish unless I opened it up.

So I guess that is my question, if it was you main car and you could only keep one, which would you keep?

Thanks for your help.
