Don't go to a solid mass flywheel... you will hate all the noises it makes at idle. A dual mass flywheel is the way to go for a street car.
I would also replace the clutch disc, pressure plate, rear main seal, throw out bearing(maybe the lever too) I don't know IF our car's have a seal on the tran's input shaft... but IF it does I would also replace it too. I would also consider to replace all the bolts that hold the flywheel to the crank and the pressure plate bolts - all are one time use I believe. How is your master and slave cylinders ? Maybe take out the CDV while your in there. too. Look up "CDV delete DIY" for more info. I would also change your trans and diff fluids while the car is up in the air. And the little plastic bearing(ball) that the shift lever arm sits in. Take a look at the shift linkage too for wear. The square thingy that the shift lever arm links up too can wear over time. Dack

240k KMS, so whatever that is in miles.
The car is a track/autocross car, and not a daily driver so I am not concerned about extra noise/vibes from a solid flywheel. It was cheap and I knew I would be spending money on the car to get it sorted but a single mass setup including clutch is literally half the price of a dual mass setup and clutch. Thank you for the suggestions. I will add them to my list of parts |
