Angel eye bulb replacement

I have a 2009 135i.

I like the daylight running lights, I don't like the yellow color of the halo rings.

I've read through literally hundreds of posts about changing the bulbs to something whiter, and now I'm just confused.

What bulbs have people used here in Oz to make their angel eyes white rather than dirty yellow?

I've also read that certain bulbs can melt your lights, is that true?

I was leaning toward 72W LED bulb, is that wise?

TIA

Pretty much any LED bulb from eBay will be fine. They range from anywhere between $30 and $250.

Personally, I would say don't waste your money on the cheap ones. I'm on my second set now (that I just installed yesterday, coincidentally). The first set only lasted 5 weeks before one died so I bought some new ones from a different seller. These ones feel like they're much better quality so we'll see how they go.

With that being said, neither pair has lit up the outer ring well at all. It's due to the design of the headlights and has little to do with the bulbs. You'll notice the same thing with any bulb you buy but there are some that illuminate the outer rings better than others.

The first set looked better than my new ones do. They were whiter and brighter and the outside rings were more illuminated than they are with the new ones. You can hardly see they're on at all in sunlight. These current ones only have 4 LEDs in each bulb whereas my last set had 8. So definitely look for that if you decide to go with eBay bulbs.

Without question, LUX are the best you can get. They give the brightest, whitest light and they do a really good job of lighting up the outer rings. They are incredibly pricey compared to others though. Given how disappointed I am with my current ones, if they ever die, I'm just going to bite the bullet and fork out the coin for these.

I would highly recommend BMR Autowerkes H8 angel eye bulbs. They're an Australian company and the bulbs have been flawless for me the last 2 years. Nice bright white angel eyes (see my build thread for photos). They're $150 and available here:
