BSM $48k 6.5k miles on eBay

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Saw this on eBay with no reserve and says its a clean title. I'm not affiliated in any way, it's not the color that I'm after.
Due diligence is in order, I hope it works out for someone

Here you go: http://r.ebay.com/lU24tj

It's not going for $48k, though, as no Buy It Now price is set. Auction starts at $48k, but oddly I see that it has no reserve. I wonder if the seller knew that and did it intentionally.

It's modded, too. Unfortunately, the listing is very sparse with respect to details (I hate listings like that).

Perhaps. Or perhaps this is an uninformed seller, or a novice eBayer (seller has just 1 review) who mistakenly placed a listing with no reserve.

I remember that one being pretty close to this 48k price. It's just showing that 1M values are coming down because it isn't as sought after as when it was released so less and less people are willing to still pay MSRP for a 1year+ old car.

Not good considering the rarity of the 1M. I was really hoping for better performance on the second hand market.

What better performance? It kept MSRP+ for about a year. Can't expect it to hold MSRP+ all the time. Prices will drop even more when the new M3 comes out and the 2 series / M2.

I was hoping the 1M has some level of collectibility like the Z8 for example.

1M like the Z8? Yeahhh not happening for a variety of reasons that I will avoid posting as to not start a flame war. The 1M will closely follow the M coupe pattern in my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet we see 2 or 3 buyers try to snipe it in the closing minutes and it goes into the $5x's.

It's been incredible how long it has held that MSRP+ value. If all M' swere like this, nobody would bother buying a used one.

It's all specualtion of course but I'm guessing that the new M3 won't have too much of an impact but the 2015 M2 will take a chunk out of it.

Is NO ONE turned off?

Is NO ONE going to mention how sketchy it is that the seller has ONE feedback point?

Also, the fact that it's tuned with JB4, as well as other mods, but they don't go into any detail whatsoever?

Either this is a disaster of a buying experience in the making or the seller really is a novice...

I bought that car.

It has very low options, but that didn't matter for me.

I bought it because the seller was a great guy and it was the only 1m I saw for sale in bsm in the 3 months I looked that seemed to have what I beleice is reasonable value.

I love the car and feel I got a good deal at 47.5k

The right deals are there if you wait imo

This will be a barometer to see what 1M's are really worth. Not many have the balls to list without a reserve.

Most 1M listings you see are $60k+. Honestly doubt they ever get that much. The car is good, but not that good.

Wow, did I miss something? No one bid at $48k. Was there something about this car that the rest of us didn't know? Anyway, it's a good and bad sign, depending on which side of the fence you're on. It may also be a reality check for some of those thinking their cars are worth $60+k
Also with the next generation M3 coming in a year (if you can pull some strings) and talk of the M2, I wonder how that will impact secondhand pricing as I'm convinced there'll be a glut/abundance (or maybe more of a buyers market) of the 1M.
I'm sure some people from here will be jumping over to get the next evolution of M.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but this may be the harsh reality.

My favorite part of the ad ......."all stock parts available bmw is not aware of mods can be reversed!!!!"
Something about this sale seemed strange (IMHO)

I think it's more of just poor marketing on the sellers than a sudden drop in the market value of 1M's. It would be kind to say the auction poorly written and presented.

That said, it is a reality check for those who think their 1M wil reinvigorate their lackluster 401k's... :-)

This car has been posted on cars.com on and off for the last 2 months. It has no navigation and apparently an error on the carfax - a maintenance reported 8000 miles, but the car only has 6500 miles on it.
