Hello from Perth !!
Hello guys !!
Ive been browsing around for awhile but never really posted anything, however let me introduce myself..... im from perth and ive been owning a 135i for around 2-3 months now so my experience with the 135i has been relatively short but exciting and enjoyable... The car is driven quite alot... everyday infact by everyone in the family... My car is a 2008 135i in sedona red and ive only seen one other than mine around perth. Its in auto and has the following options, professional nav, front and rear PDC, sunroof, comfort access, upgraded hifi thingy and adaptive headlights. The car is currently stock, but im planning to modify it with some performance parts... but they are quite pricey from the quotes i got from autoclassic perth so dont expect anything modded soon from my car :P However after afew months into ownership i have encountered afew problems and i would like to see if anyone else are sharing the similar problems... first my nav restarts once awhile in the middle of driving... so the BMW logo comes up again and the whole accept thingy.... Im also having issues with my comfort access as it hardly detects and once i have actully entered into my car i cannot start the engine.. it says i have no key :S Besides those minor issues the car is a absolute joy to drive..... extremely fast and great fun. Its so great i might even buy another 135i or 123d in manual. Btw is there any other 135i owners around perth on these forum?? If you see me around feel free to say hi or use honk if youre in the car !! Btw here are the pictures Sorry not the best quality pics... |

Welcome to the forum!
Comfort access is great either inside your briefcase/bag or on a lanyard and hang around your neck. . Doesn't work inside my pants... may be there is too much interference from thinking down there?

Welcome to the forum!
A great bunch of similarly-minded, petrol-headed BMW nuts! You'll have to join the BMW Club of WA and join in on a few gigs like track days at Barbagallo etc. |

From my experiences with comfort access you can still insert the key fob manually and start the car. Is this not working either ?
Comfort access is a pita. when i used the loan car i always lost the keys under seats and could never lock the car when i walked out as i had no idea where the keys went to each time. Sneaky little bugger........ !!

Hey mate
Congrats on the car. There are a few of us Perthites floating around the forum. You're right, i've not seen so many sedona red 1'ers running around. Unbelievably, the last BMW Club of WA event I went to, there were three le mans blue 135i's there, including mine. I'm only aware of four in Perth that colour! Hit up the club's show'n'shine next Sunday at Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth from 10am onwards and come and meet some other BMW fanatics!

I would suggest taking it to the dealership upon your first service unless it becomes more frequent, take it in earlier. I have Idrive and comfort access and I have never encountered these issues. Idrive always works a charm and the car will start with the key anywhere inside the car, including my pockets. I do find that comfort access is very accurate though so if I hold the key even slightly outside the window it will not start. My guess is that these problems are related to a software issue which a simple update will fix.

If you join the BMW Club of WA you'll get 10% off services and most parts at AutoClassic.
Did you get PitStop services with your car? I know if you buy new you can take the car in anytime and they will check your tyre pressures and top up your oils if necessary - no charge. If you have a bit of time to lounge around in the showroom (beware - could lead to impulse buys!) they will even wash your car. Before I get flamed by the purists on this forum, I get my car washed this way as I'm too time poor (ie: lazy) to do it myself. Having said that the stock wheels on the 135i are a dream to clean unlike the #!%#ing 19" wheels on the M3! |

When ur idrive shuts down, are you playing music off the harddrive? I have figured out that iDrive doesn't like playing files copied in ipod format and occasionally skips or shuts down.

Hi Guys
Hijack time - I am another new Perth member, having just purchased an 08 135 Coupe out of Brisbane (Cashmere, Business Nav, Logic 7, Adaptive Headlights, Sunroof, Comfort Access). I was a BMW Club member for a couple of years (had a 2005 Z4) but with work committments I haven't been around for the last 2 years. Will have the car in a couple of weeks and plan to rejoin the club - looking forward to meeting you guys soon. |

Nah I thought you might have the 09 iDrive which is hard drive based. Your ipod should be fine.

Ive just picked up my car from autoclassic and they have rebooted my idrive so the problem should be fixed.
i guess with the comfort access problem maybe its not so much of an "issue" but rather how well it works haha.... Quote:

Gday!
I just got back from Margaret river - 'Highlights' down there was a bit of gravel stuck in the inside front left caliper making a horrible screeching noise until i could find a jack, and a gumnut dropping at unusually high velocity putting a dent in the roof.... |

Hi s747
Another off topic post, but do you use Sue's road coming into and out of Margaret River? Its a great road to 'test' your car - good surface, almost no traffic and very wide verges, meaning no suprises of the kangaroo variety either. Also cuts a decent amount of time off the trip. Cheers Paul |
