Dinan Stage 2

I currently have Dinan Stage 1 software installed and really like it...I am considering installation of stage 2 which gives me an additional 78 HP and 113 more lbs of torque....however, I am running an automatic trans..does anyone see any potential issues with this in that the HP and torque with stage 2 is too much for the auto to handle and result in a shortened trans life ?

I think the stage 2 gives you an additional 78hp and 113lbs torque over a stock engine's output. With Dinan stage 2, you would probably be looking at more of a 20-25 hp gain over your dinan stage 1.

Also keep in mind that Dinan goes by bhp gains and not to the wheels. Dinan Stage 2 and even 3 are very mild tunes compared to JB4, Procede and Cobb tunes.

Dinan tunes are VERY conservative compared to Cobb or procede. I'm running FBO Cobb with custom tuned maps from Akuma Motorsports. Now that's fast.

I have Dinan S2 with Auto trans since 2010, did the tune at 8K. Im not shy at all and @ 61K, its all good.

This tune is the best tune ive ever purchased. Also the most expensive. There are no hiccups in the map, at least none that i have detected which is exciting to me. Ive beaten modded cars claimed to have 500+ hp and can almost keep up with a lightly modded C5 Zo6. That stupid Genesis coupe almost got me which is also food for thought. I put down some unicorn numbers on a mustang dyno a couple years back. Other than the dealer deleting or messing with the ecu a few times, I havent had any issues.

Its definitely over priced, but since im so happy i dont feel like i gave up refinement to have this kind of power, perhaps i should reconsider my thoughts on that. Ive seen how the COBB tuners work on an STi. Lots of functionality and added features. If it were available when i was in the market I might go that route and get it dyno tuned by a somewhat local genius. Ive never been for a ride in a tuned N54/55 other than my own. I lucked out with this platform, im very impressed with the power output.

Mine too. I can also keep up with or beat 335i running JB4 + DCI. But I can't keep up with JB4 + DPs running hotter map.

I have the Dinan Stage 2 on my car with the automatic transmission. No issues whatsoever. Really drives good in sport mode.

Hi

Do you have any additional cooling hardware fitted to your car?

I am planning to get Dinan S2 but worried about the excessive heat generated from the tune.

Thanks.

I hate
to burst your bubble. But a Dinan stage 2 tune on a N55 is like a stage 1 tune on a N54. I've had the Dinan S2 since Feb. on an N55 and I build 12 to 13 psi boost which is lower than the N54 did on a stage 2.

N54 is easier to tune to get more hp compared to N55.
