Any way to disable the windows "twitching" during tinting?

A search didn't come up with anything... I'm getting my windows tinted tomorrow and the guy at the shop was wondering if there's anyway to prevent the windows from twitching down/up when you open/close the doors? (Other than disconnecting the battery, which obviously would work at the time, but when they need to move the car outta the garage, then what? Don't wanna ruin the new tint.)

Along the same lines, those of you with tinted windows, how did they tint around the silly black dots that are on every last window? Seems like these might be a pain.

What if you just rolled down the windows a crack before getting the windows tinted? I believe if the windows are down as far or further than the distance they would drop to "crack" they will not drop any extra.

Just a thought, too lazy to go try it out right now.

I wouldn't take it to a place that doesn't already know how to work around the window "twitching". He shouldn't be asking you anything other than for your keys.

The dot matrix is a common problem. The only thing you can do is pretty much use a credit card to rub it in between the dots.

If you have comfort access there might be issues after tinting as well.

Good luck though.

what to do is open the door and look for the latch, move the latch to the "locked" position, and the windows should roll up that extra bit, without you having the door closed... Just went thru the same issue, and this seemed to work for me.

Yup, this is what my installer said he did. Good info for others to know as well.

Hmm, just got my windows tinted yesterday and I was assuming they would have done that. I'm going to have to take a look for that.

I haven't had any problems with my CA yet. Works just as well as before I had my windows tinted.

I agree with this. If the shop/individual doesn't already know how to deal with this then I would be wary. From my understanding they have to get the window all the way up and also heat the edges of the tint to prevent it from peeling when the window moves up and down when opening and closing the door. There are several ways to deal with the dot matrix, none of which are easy (or in my opinion worth the effort).

After reading through all of the CA threads I believe the issues from tint with CA are because of the large amounts of soapy water that get pushed down into the door. I asked them to minimize the water that the pushed into the door and they did what they could. So far I have no issues, hopefully it will stay that way.
