Joining the JB3 Fraternity
I ordered my JB3 yesterday and waiting for it to arrive. Got my first servicing next Saturday so I am going to wait until after that to install it.
I ordered the pin-out version, partially because I can use the extra cash on other upgrades, but the install looks kind of daunting. Any advice on doing the install for the pin-out version? And what map should I use for the first few days? I was thinking Map 3, I have the Riss Racing CAI, but that is my only mod so far.

I just did my pinout install yesterday, when installing for the first time you should allow for about two hours if you want to take your car apart and slowly see how things go together, make sure to use electrical tape for the wires and don't snap any clips

I also have an OCC in a box waiting to be installed after the first servicing was complete. Few other mods I am looking at doing to really unlock the potential of the great N54 (i.e. meth).

Map 5 with race gas? Total waste IMO unless you ONLY have 91 octane in your area, then Map 3 is good. You get none of the benefits of race gas on Map 5. If you're on 93 octane tune only, go Map 5, if you're planning on running race gas, go Map 8. I don't know where you people get your information from when BMS' website says the absolute opposite of some of you people's "advise" or IMO, misinformation.

With just DCI and JB3 on 93 octane I run maps 5 and 7, all day... no problems.....5 is obviously the safer choice and the difference in power from maps 5 to 7, without other mods is not that much...

We only have 93 octane gas here (for premium), I plan on running Map 3 daily and Map 5 when I need it.

pin out was not hard at all. hardest part was removing the individual plugs from the cluster of plugs. But of course it wasnt hard for me cause im an electrician in real life on aircraft. Just make sure you have electrical tape and take your time. thats all that you'll need brotha.

haha.. i know what u mean. but it wasnt hard, i had a really small common screwdriver that worked perfect for pushing down the locking tab on the pin. Worked really well in fact. I was somewhat worried about not having a pin removal tool before i started the project but once i started it everything worked out well with the few tools i had..

After much debate and research, I think my next upgrade after the JB3 will be to finish the brakes (I have the front rotors, need to order the rears and pads) and then get the M3 suspension pieces before I finish the motor. I don't want to out drive the suspension by having a super-motor and still stock suspension/brakes.

Holding my new JB3 in my hands! Thanks Mike from N54 for shipping so fast!
Gotta wait until Saturday afternoon to put it in after the first servicing. I am sure by Tuesday I will be all smiles

Congrats on the purchase! You won't regret it. Not sure if there's an install video for the pin out or not on BMS' site, but the install video helped tremendously for my PNP install.

JB3 installed, everything went smoothly.
I think the hardest thing is putting everything back together.... Scratch that, the hardest thing is when you go for a test drive and try not to finish the test drive with a ticket...... One comment tho, I am sure it is common sense, but this is my first turbo car, I have always been a big V-8 guy, somewhere in the instructions it should say that the male end goes into the factory female end. All it says is to put the JB3 wire in the harness and use one inch piece of tape on the other. I know, I know, your average retard should have figured out what to do, but I had to scratch my head for a minute before the "oh shit" lightbulb went off....lol Looking forward to the next few days when everything is broken in and in sync and I can put it on Map 5 and give it a try.
