fuel and cost of filling up DAY 1

Hey guys so my car came!
It was well worth the wait so just hang in there those who are waiting.
Now just out of interest, is it me or is my fuel indicator lying to me?
I did 50 K's last night on a full tank and now its just about to reach the halfway mark? Is this right?
Also how much on average does it cost to fill your tank up to the brim with the best quality fuel from BP.
I am starting to worry about how much fuel my car actual guzzles and its only day 1

Congrats on the new car!

Don't worry about the Fuel... during the initial run in the car consumes heaps of fuel but it gets more efficient after you have gone through a few tanks.

It generally costs me about $50 to fill up... give or take a few bucks.

I wish the tank was bigger, really I do - I've been getting around 13.4 l/100km so far but have decided I really want around 700km range - it's my only gripe with the car

I'd second those comments about fuel consumption for the first tank. My first fill returned an estimated 12.6L/100km. It's normal.

After ~2500km, I'm averaging 11.5L/100km using 98 RON. Best I've seen is 10.4L/100km. Consumption depends greatly on your driving style and the average speed. A higher average speed = lower fuel consumption ... with normal road use.

The tank is only 53L so the best I can hope for is around 460-510km per tank, if it runs to empty.

A full tank (assuming 5L remains in reserve), will cost you around $58 at a price of 120c/L for 98 RON.

BTW, the fuel consumption on the car's computer reads 1.6% too low according to my calculations. That's pretty accurate. It was 10.8% too low on my 2002 MINI Cooper S!

My first tank I ran 14.51L/100km
Since then it's gotten much better, I'm averaging around 13 for pretty much 100% city driving and I've seen 10.5 on the open road.

It really does depend on my driving though I can easily see pushing the car up to around 15 if you have a heavy foot.

3000km's on the clock and an average of 11.5km/L of BP Ultimate since day 1. Pretty even mix of highway and street driving I reckon.

Our first tank was pretty ordinary...... about 14/100 but it has now settled to about 12.5/100 in mainly Sydney urban driving (our E46 325ci did 13s/100 so no complaints here)

And yep the small tank sucks.... but hey the re
st of the car makes up for it

Best i've ever returned is 8.6L/100km of safe, double demerit, very little fun country driving. This extends range to about 600kms of open road only driving. So yeah, it does get better from what you're experiencing. City i'm back up around 11.5L/100km

Hmmm, after the empty January roads, I'm back up around the 17s... I'm thinking as the traffic increases I'll float back to around 14s.

That said using even using 20-25L in the first 50km is very excessive... That's like +40l/100km!!!!! If it continues like that for the next 50km, I'd get it checked by the dealer.

I've never had better than 13.4 during normal driving... Depends what you call normal; I love the 2nd gear pull!

I just went on a road trip over the weekend and got 9.8l/100km. This isn't big straight highways but windy country roads in NZ I was very happy with that.

11.3 after 1,500km - but I'm running it in by the book. I'm looking forward to greeting redline in the coming months!
