I'd just be careful how much you try to stuff into that netting. It seems like the netting will stretch only so far before it becomes permanently deformed.

I keep the manual in the glove box. It exactly fits there but unfortunately it doesn't leave much room for anything else, so it would be nice to store it elsewhere. The only time I've ever opened it was to insert an AirTag into the back cover.

I keep a PDF copy of the manual in the cloud and on my phone.

agree - keep your docs and receipts in a binder/folder somewhere else. don't do the 'George Costanza wallet' with your owner's manual

Ah so, these seat backs had stretched netting.
Looks like the netting just pulls slack out of the plastic frame, rather than actually deforming. It can be tucked back under if it pulls out. Easy fix!

Totally worth it. The shifter is noticeably more precise and "snickety". It's particularly noticeable at low speed—say, downshifting coming up to a full stop—but a quick romp on some back roads around here yesterday confirmed it's at all (OK, most speeds.

Winter/Summer wheel switchover day (yesterday). Job was made much easier with my two shop assistants making sure I was not attacked by any rogue deer, fox, or squirrels. Used my DIY wheel detailing stand for the first time - worked great!

Dimming/Compass/Homelink Mirror Retrofit.

My car had the base manual dimming, no alarm, mirror.

Super easy, just had to re-pin a single brown ground cable in connector. Just pop the cover on connector, and slide it in.

No coding required, as soon as i turned the car on the compass turned on and the mirror dimmed. Home link works too!

Really interested in your wheel detailing stand - any details or plans?

The impetus for it was that I had this tire dolly contraption called The Jack & Jill of All Tires. It was a neat contraption but I found I didn't really use it much - too much trouble to get it out and set up. Would probably be more useful for larger setups. I know there are similar devices for large truck tires and for aircraft tires. Anyway, the two red rollers were part of that contraption and I figured I could use those for a wheel detailing stand. I ordered one other roller (Amazon) for the upright portion and used leftover scrap wood, mostly 5/4 decking board plus a 2x2 deck fence baluster.

No plans - just had an idea in my head and worked it out on the workbench. I did angle it back at 5° to keep the wheel from falling toward me. Made it 16 in wide and 22 deep - the depth was based on what would work well for clamping it down to my folding/portable workbench.

Here is a better view of the base and rollers.

Thanks for the info! The rollers are what I was most interested in. Was thinking of using kitchen rolling pins, but thought they might be too bulky, especially the upright one. I'll search Amazon for some cheaper plastic like what you used.

My 2011 128i was a base-level spec - 6MT, slicktop, no Sport or M-Sport, only option was the seats were leather and heated. So it originally had the manual dimming/no alarm/no Homelink mirror. But by the time I got it, someone (probably the car flipper who sold it to the guy I bought it from) had put in a Autodimming/Compass/Homelink mirror. It wasn't connected so none of the doodads worked but it also meant it couldn't be manually dimmed so I had to deal with the glare. Anyway, I decided I just wanted a base manual mirror but had some difficulty locating one - all I could find were the autodimming ones. Finally, found one listed on Ebay and ordered it. When it came, nope, not the manual mirror, but an autodim mirror. Contacted the parts reseller and he apologized, said they goofed, gave me a refund and said he didn't want it back. So, now I had two autodim mirrors but I wanted a manual.

Finally ended up ordering a manual mirror from Lithuania, which cost less than $20 shipped and arrived within an insane amount of time, like three or four days. I'm happy with it - I wanted simple with this car. I sold one of the autodim mirrors and am keeping the other as a backup for my E91.

Those looks great. I always thought it was odd that BMW didn't include aluminum pedals as standard, maybe as part of the M Sport package. They weren't standard even on the 1M. (I think the 135is included BMW Performance pedals, on 6-speed equipped models.)
