Got CIP 20 today and it corrected some "Steering Angle Sensor". My steering wheel now tracks straight, as it was off to the right a little. I also have Active Steering.

CIP 20.1 not sure what this software does? but it's made my car perfect!
I never had a problem with my bluetooth in 7 months now. Tonight I go into my garage & messing with car settings that software update erased. I noticed the signal for my cell phone. I thought how can that be my phone is in the house. The damn signal is so strong now it goes through my garage wall into my family room where I have my cell phone sitting on my desk. Any more updates come out I don't want them. My car is perfect as is |

Don't you think the service tech just recentered AS after the update. The software does not make it centered or not. It is part of the post reprogramming process to come back and reset stuff (like stored parameters), but many service centers fail to do this. The software can and does have code to control the AS ratio vs speed change and BMW has tinkered with that now and then in the CIPs.

CIP20
AT last! With the help of an item from this bulletin board from an AUstralian dealer regarding a retrofit and the CIP 20 I now have MP3 on my May 05 Nav-equipped E90! MP3's can only be played fron thge shuttle, which is fine for me!
CIP 20 has also jacked up the phone side and seems to have speeded up the idrive response. CHeers!!

CIP 20
Hi,
Anyone in the UK got CIP 20 yet? If so which dealership did you go to? I called my dealer service department today and they were not even aware of it!

No idea what the next version fixes or adds. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
As for why people always look for the next version - well I guess like me I hope it will enable some sort of functionality that I don't currently have. i.e. the software upgrade to 20 enabled MP3's on my pre-sept car. Who knows may with the next upgrade I'll be able to input and address into NAV down to street level using a voice command. Currently I can only issue voice commands for address details down to country level in my car. It does not support city or streets voice input yet. Oh and maybe with the next version I'll be have the option to enable acoustic confirmation when locking or unlocking the car and who knows what else :-) |

or, to use, an apple analogy (if you swing that way): are you still using an Apple //e? I gave my Apple //e to my nephew 10 years ago and he still plays games on it. Good thing his parents haven't mentioned XBOX 360 to him yet...

it's not the same. I'm agree with you when there are some bugs to fix, but we are talking about a car: when all runs ok and problems are solved, new features maybe can be added, but not every month... CIP 20 was released 5 days ago: no one knows effectively what feature are added and what bugs are fixed, and someone talk about 21, 22, 23 and so one.... I hope you'll pay every unuseful sw upgrade: I'm sure you will stop and start to drive your car. Apple II E and 286? 20 and 15 years ago. CIP 20? 5 days ago. Sorry, it's ridicolous. |

FYI CIP 20 was released sometime in the OCT/NOV 05 time frame. It was installed to my car on DEC 05. So the new releases seem to come out every 6 months. And I'm sure they wouldn't be releasing updates if they where not having problems that needed attention.

It sort of 'centers' itself if you let go after a turn. I didn't feel like it used to do this before, but there again, I only noticed after reading this thread. |

CIP 20
Hi,
I am in the UK and have Navigation Professional. I just got my E90 back today (30/01/2006) with the CIP 20 MP3 upgrade. I can confirm that both the in dash CD and DVD drives now play MP3 disks ok . I was NOT charged for the upgrade as it is covered under warranty. Make sure your dealer does not charge you for this upgrade. If you don't complain then the dealer may try and charge you £150 for the upgrade. Take no crap from them and don't pay them a penny! Also noticed that I-drive is faster!

I got CIP 20.0 a few days ago and these were fixed:
1. Bluetooth connection: connect immediately when turning on the bluetooth on the phone. Not like before which took a while to connect when the BT on the car on before the phone. 2. The sound quality is much better and at least 2 times louder than before. 3. Drive-away Door Locking (DDL), Daytime Running Light (DRL) and Pathway lighting (on for 40 sec. after removing the key) now are working. |

I just bought a 2006 325i a week and a half ago, and my RAZR V3 phone won't connect regularly. I can't tell is it's an issue with the phone or the car, but hear that CIP 20 might fix it. How do I tell what version is installed in my car now?
Thx |

After the upgrade is complete there are several steps in the proccess and in their procedures to check status AND reset/recenter AS (if u have it). Now, if they failed to do that then yes, ya' gotta go back. |

I've got CIP 20.1.
It improved the sensitivity of the auto headlights. I did not have a problem with my RAZR connecting with BT. I did, and still have, the call waiting problem (drops first call when you accept the second call). I have not noticed any other differences on my car (10/05 Build 330i)
