TPMS with new wheels

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been discussed already. I replaced the stock wheels on my 2010 135 M sport with some aftermarket wheels and new tires from a local shop. I now get the little yellow "TPMS inactive" warning light. I've tried clearing the code with the MHD flasher but it always returns within a couple minutes of being on the road.

Is there anyway to permanently clear this code or reinstall the sensors on the aftermarket wheels? I just hate having a blinking warning notification on the dash. Thanks.

You need new sensors. Not sure if it can be coded out or not(?)

Can I pull the sensors off the old wheels? Tbh I have no idea how that monitoring system works lol.

Would seem straightforward to move them to new wheels if they worked ok with car before.

You can reuse the sensors from your old wheels if they were working before you switched. The sensors are installed inside the tire on the valve stem, so you'll need to take them to a tire shop to have the tires popped off the bead, sensors installed, and then tires re-seated on the wheels. A good tech can do it without fully removing the tire, but if they have to take the tire all the way off then you'll want to have them re-balanced as well.
