It will be aggressive, and I wouldn't really recommend that sizing for a 1-series.

What size tire do you plan on running?
I dig a little aggressiveness.

35 offset on an 8.5 and a 235 width tire will not fit. Maybe with a massive roll/pull up front, and run big camber to boot.

That's aggressive.
I'm running an 8.5 wheel with an effective 40ET (ET45 + 5mm spacer) with 235, and it's pretty darn tight in there. Without camber plates it wouldn't even be close and the fender would be finished in about a week of driving.

I was looking to pick up a square setup 18x8.5 ET 45 (arc 8) with 235/40 all around. I read through the tire fitment thread and some people say it wont fit and others say it fits with no problems. I am on stock suspension, but I plan on new suspension with ~1" drop. Will I need camber plates/spacers to run this setup? |

**Just a reference, my setup is not what most people prefer or have so keep that in mind**
17x8.5 ET 32 fronts with 215/40R17 tires and my suspension is very low (see sig). I have some room in there for maybe a 225/40R17 tire. If you go less aggressive on the offset I would think you should be able to fit a 235 in there. I had 225s on my stock wheels and I could've gone up to a 235 pretty easy without fender mods I think. Also, my fenders are rolled and pulled slightly |

Lowered it's a matter of camber. W/out camber plates I can tell you that on a lowered car, that's going to be a tough fit.

Thanks for the info. I am betting it will take more modification than people say it does. I really don't want to run an aggressive camber setting on a street car. Maybe -1.5* up front at max.

I'm at -1.1* camber on more aggressive wheels. With a fender roll and pull you should be able to run these wheels without needing 'maximum camber' like everyone has said

Yea I agree. Pulling is a different ball game than a simple roll but it would fit.

Did you absolutely need the 5mm spacer to clear the strut? and was it with stock struts? You say you are at -1.8* camber, any rubbing issues under hard driving? If it works for you, I am guessing I will need to do the same as you did!

Yes a spacer is absolutely needed to clear the strut. I test fit my 8.5+46 wheels and they hit the strut before the hubs came in contact. I'm not exactly sure what size is needed but you need one. I am on aftermarket coilovers, I don't know the clearance of stock suspension
