Trunk Brake Light

Hello, I tried replacing my trunk brake light yesterday, I used my 8mm to remove the nuts but it actually removed the whole screw that comes on the back of the light. My question is, how do I remove the nut? I need them to screw in my new trunk light. TIA

Is it rusted on? Try a little WD-40 or Blaster PB to help loosen it up.

You will need to hold the stud with a plyer or similar. Also will help to spray with wd 40 or similar.

It's an M5 hex nut, probably available at a BMW dealer , or any auto parts / hardware store.
