1M Overboost function
So I'm curious about this overboost feature for the 1M:
1. Is it the first M car to have it? 2. Is it any different than the version found in the 335is or Z4? 3. How long is the overboost period (7s?) and how often can one use it? More info would be appreciated! |

1. i think so
2. Dont know 3. It works always 5sec in a row. So.. if you step on the gas pedal you will have during 5sec 500NM, than if you make a gear change at step again on the gas pedal you will have again 500NM during 5sec. For example if you drive on the highway and you change to 6st gear and step on the gas you will have 5sec 500NM and after this "only" 450NM during the time you still keep your foot on the gas pedal. |

And I read 7 seconds, only available immediately after changing gears.
Uncertain whether this applies only when shifting into a higher gear or whether it is also available upon downshifting. I've done a fair amount of searching, but found lamentably little hard information about the overboost feature. Would appreciate links/additional details. Neil |

2) No, identical to the Z4is. 3) 7 seconds is what I keep hearing. I don't know definitively if it's tied to a gear change or not, I thought it was related to throttle input, but I could be wrong. |

BMW states that it is at full throttle; so this doesn't imply a gear change. I'll experiment when I get my replacement tire for my flat and am not driving on my snows. Though I must admit that would be kind of interwesting but ihave to save the snows for winter.

5-7 seconds under high load/low RPMs. This was explained in detail in that BMW video that was on the forum 4-5 weeks ago. They even showed a dyno chart and explained how it worked.

Jeeze, that F50 is sick.
With just a conservative tune to the 1M 397 ft lbs is what the road sees during overboost. It really is noticeable vs. stock.
